As you know, the Lunar New Year holiday is one of the most important festivals in

Vietnam. Tet usually occurs at the end of January or the beginning of February. I w
ill have a break for 2 weeks on Tet. Before Tet, I will return to my hometown. All
my family members are going to clean the room and all the house. Besides, my fa
mily enjoys this festival by preparing traditional food such as Vietnamese square c
ake, dried candied fruit, braised pork and eggs. The most exciting activity during T
et is that I can purchase new clothes so that I can wear them when Tet arrives. We
are going to the market to buy peach or apricot blossoms, fruit, candied,… My mot
her and I will decorate five fruit trays on my family altar, to pay respect to my ance
stors and celebrate New Year’s Eve. During Tet, I will visit my grandparents’ hous
e and my family members will have to eat together and the most important thing is
that I will receive lucky money as a way to give the adults wishes for the new year.
Next, I am going to visit my teachers with all of my friends. Furthermore, I am goi
ng to the pagoda to forget the troubles of the past year and hoping for a better upco
ming year. For all Vietnamese, Tet is the time to have family gatherings and welco
me the new year with many blessings.
