A SELF-INTRODUCTION ESSAY ON THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY

IN MY CHOSEN CAREER PATH

Everyone in the journey has chosen their career path to achieve their dreams, we gave us the ability
to choose the career we want. I am Queny Joy Montinez and want to achieve the success with the
career path I want. One of the reason why we held on our choices because of the history we have,
that is the one why we keep on moving forward to the obstacles we encounter. For some it is their
motivation, they take it as lesson to pursue their dream.

History may change, there is no constant in this world we never knew that the unexpected things
will come and being you doesn’t based on your history. My family history was like a roller coaster
ride, where you’re didn’t expect that it will come. Some of my family members are seaman, some
are business man and my brother was a successful sales agent. My father was a marine engineering
graduate but he didn’t even step on board. And my brother, the career he chose was different from
what he wants because at his time, life was really hard and we have nothing to pursue his career.
My brother was a former student at PUP Sta. Mesa and he study education, he stop because my
mother couldn’t afford his study so he chose to work. He didn’t know that there is a different career
are waiting for him. The importance of history in my chosen career path is, to serve as my
inspiration to. I learn a lot from our history, that life is difficult to face. There are so many obstacles
we may encounter and may be the hurdle to the path we want that would take you to stop. Frankly,
I didn’t know yet the career I want, I am not sure if this is what I want because I only chose to take
Bachelor of Science in Accountancy was because of my brother, he want me to choose the career
he knew that I have a future with, but for me I want to take the career I want and that is taking
Architecture. The history is not my motivation to keep forward but my lesson, things are getting
harder as the days passing by. I never grew up without the feeling of supporting by your family,
all I know is I don’t want to repeat the history we have, I want to break the pattern of our history
and I don’t think it breaks us because sometimes we need to choose where our heart wants. Well,
it still inspires me to continue what I started because I also don’t want them to be disappointed.

Just like the history we have, they still try to achieve the dream they want in the career they want,
still they try to choose and fight the right and the things they love. History let us know the
importance of everything, the importance to know others more, believe that choosing decisions are
hard and it could be complicated as you are. History is in our memories that could be last as long
as we live. I remember how I admire my brother because he didn’t give up to become a successful
as he are today, at first I want to follow his steps because I know how hard he go through and how
many opportunities he give up just to bring us a good future. I follow what he wants for me, but
suddenly I realized that I am not happy anymore with what I chose, like this is not the career I
want. but because I don’t want to disappoint him, I chose to continue this. The history helps me to
know myself more, and I don’t want to bring the mistakes that they have done before, I learn to
allow yourself to discover a lot of things from the past.
