(2) Enterprise Advisers, our community of business volunteers who support schools and
colleges with their careers strategy, enhancing the link between employment and education.

This agreement outlines the role, responsibilities and commitments of Enterprise Advisers (EAs) and
Birmingham Education Partnership (BEP) you are volunteering with, in relation to data sharing and
data protection.

• Attend an EA induction/training session


• Participate in EA Network meetings (maximum 3 per year)
• Promote the work of EAs amongst contacts and local networks to aid EA recruitment
• Allow BEP or The Careers & Enterprise Company to notify your employer of your participation
if requested
• Read and abide by BEP Safeguarding and Child Protection policy (your Enterprise Coordinator
will share the policy) and read The Careers & Enterprise Company Safeguarding overview
emailed to you on joining
• Refrain from promoting products or services produced by their company or organisation to the
school staff
Communications
• The Enterprise Adviser’s main point of contact is the Enterprise Coordinator in their LEP area.

• The Enterprise Adviser agrees to their contact details being shared with The Careers &
Enterprise Company and will occasionally hear from The Careers & Enterprise Company
regarding national events, information relating to the EA role and opportunities for the
Network.

• The Enterprise Adviser’s contact details will be shared with their designated school/college to
facilitate the working relationship.

Activity that’s out of scope for the EA role


As an Enterprise Adviser, you will not be expected to:
• Deliver careers and enterprise activities directly to young people
• Change existing college/school-based programmes that are working well

Data protection
All data is handled in line with BEP’s privacy policies and the General Data Protection Regulations
2018. For further details of the privacy policy, please consult your Enterprise Coordinator.

Where data is passed to The Careers & Enterprise Company it will be handled in line with their policy
which can be found at www.careersandenterprise.co.uk/privacy-policy

EAs will have access to data held on “Compass” or the school’s Management Information System that
may include student level information as part of the work of evaluating the strategy for careers
education within a school or college. No hard copies of any of the school’s data or information
identifying any student should be shared or retained at any point by EAs. No email access should be
granted to any data about students or school performance. Any details pertaining to students or the
school/college’s performance that are reviewed as part of the role of the EA should be kept strictly
confidential.

Data Storage and Retention of EA data

Data on EAs, which may include contact details, gender, age, diversity, employment information and
DBS status, will be stored on the Enterprise Adviser Network Register, shared by each LEP with The
Careers & Enterprise Company. No LEP other than the LEP that the EA is volunteering with will have
access to this information.

Should an EA stop volunteering for the programme, the EA’s data will be retained by The Careers &
Enterprise Company as part of our alumni network. Contact details can be removed however upon
receipt of a request to lepinfo@careersandenterprise.co.uk. The Careers & Enterprise Company will
not transfer any personal data outside the European Economic Area without permission.

Amendments and issue resolution


Should any party wish to amend the content of this Data Sharing Agreement, they should discuss the
changes proposed with the other party and both parties should agree before the amendment is
included.

Should any dispute or disagreement arise within the duration of the volunteering, the initial approach
should be an informal discussion to highlight the issue and reach a resolution. If for any reason no
resolution can be found, then both parties must agree to an action promptly. If required, the MoU can
be made invalid through notification in writing by either party.

The parties affirm that they understand and agree to the content of this Data Sharing Agreement
