Twisting two cables into one

Activities

- Put two cables in between the clip

- Set the machine according to the required spin

- Hold the cable ends and stretch out the cables to their length

- Keep a firm but not too tight grip

- The clip will spin according to the required spin

Comment

A twisted pair can be used as a balanced line, which as part of a balanced circuit can greatly reduce
the effect of noise currents induced on the line by coupling electric or magnetic fields. The idea is
that the currents induced in each of the two wires are very nearly equal and twisted cables also are
very neat with a natural springiness and seem to resist snagging

Shrink heat tube

Description

Shrinking heat tube to insulate wire & cable

Activities

- Insert the cable into a shrink tube

- And then shrink the tube by using a heat blowgun

- Move the cable back and forth across the tubing and avoid staying in one place to minimize the risk
of burns

- Continue until the tube has been tightly secured

Heat shrink tubing is a versatile plastic layer that can be applied to cabling and components for
several purposes such as electrical insulation, protection, or bundling multiple wires into a single unit

- Insert the cable into armoring layer

- And then insert the cable into the shrink tube

- Shrink the tubes by using a heat blowgun

- Move the cable back and forth across the tubing and avoid staying in one place to minimize the risk
of burns

- Continue until the tube has been tightly secured

A shielded cable is an electrical cable that has a common conductive layer around its conductors for
electromagnetic shielding that is usually covered by an outermost layer of the cable

Insert contact into housing

Inserting the contact into the housing

Activities

- Insert the contact into the right pin on the connector housing

- Make sure the contacts are fully included in the pin

Comment

Connectors retain the electrical contacts within an insulating housing and the contacts may fail to be
retained and properly positioned within a connector housing for a number of reasons. Problems may
relate to issues with the housing, contacts, retention components, or some combination. Issues can
arise due to the presence of excessive forces, improper assembly, external damage, environmental
conditions, abuse, and a host of other factors.

Applying a label to the product

Activities

- Make sure the labels given are correct

- Place the product on a clean and dry surface to ensure the label sticks properly without any
crevices, bumps, lumps, or imperfections

- Carefully apply the label to the product based on the measurement given

- Firmly and evenly press the label into place using additional pressure to make sure the label stick

Cable labeling is critical in the identification, assembly, and repair of electrical control panels, and
wire harnesses

- Draw the sample given by the engineer

- Make sure the measurements of the sample and the drawing are the same

- Measure the sample by using a ruler and get the average measurement

On the first month of the internship program at Winchester Interconnect, I was assigned to AE
department. There are a lot of new things I’ve learned, such as learned how to make a drawing using
DraftSight. DraftSight is a design and drafting software program that can be used for CAD projects
and 2D drawings. It is a very good opportunity for me as a mechanical design student to learn
another drawing software besides SolidWorks and AutoCAD. I feel very determined because I can
apply the knowledge that I got form class. I also got the opportunity to learn how to do all the work
at the production. While doing all the tasks given, I was trained by a trainer. The trainer is
responsible for providing guidance and mentoring me while doing all the tasks.

On the second month of my internship program, I continued doing the same tasks that was given on
the first month. I was assigned by the engineer to make a drawing of the cables. Since it was my first
time using DraftSight software, it took me few days to finish all the drawings given.

On the third month of my internship program, I continued doing the same tasks. I used to make a lot
of mistakes while doing all the tasks but after a few months, I was getting better on how to do the
tasks given by trainer. I can do all the tasks by my own. I finished a lot of tasks given in a day.

On the fourth month my internship program,

In terms of knowledge, I have gained a lot of knowledge here. This company taught me how to use
DraftSight software and the production job techniques and procedures that is needed to be followed
in order to succeed. I have developed a lot of skills here.
