As – Salah…..

a Muslims Identity
The key to SUCCESS in this life and the Hereafter
Perfect your Salah
Delaying Salah is a sign of hypocrisy
“and when they stand up to pray, they stand up with
laziness to be seen by men and
they do not remember Allah but little”

{Surat An-Nisa' 4: 142}

EBA’DAH / WORSHIP :
.. Is complete submission,
obedience to Allah with love
and humbleness .
.. all word and deeds that Allah loves and is pleased with, both outward
and inward.
Salah is the second pillar of
Islam. The denial of prayer
removes one from the
ranks of Islam.
“Verily between a man and
shirk and kufr is the
abandonment of Salah”
-Muslim
Allah ‫سبحانه و تعالى‬
says in the Qur’an
concerning the
prayers.
“Who believe in the unseen and
keep up prayer, and spend out
what we have given them”
{Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 30}
“Offer prayers, verily, prayer keeps away from shameful
and unlawful deeds”
{Surat Al-`Ankabut 29: 45}

“Guard strictly the (five obligatory) prayers especially in

the middle (Asr) prayer. And stand before Allah with
obedience”
{Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 238}
I have only created the jinn and the men that they may
worship me”
{Surat Adh-Dhariyat: 56}

“Verily, I am Allah, none has the right to be worshipped but I,

so worship me and offer prayer perfectly for my
remembrance”
{Surat Taha : 14}

“O Mankind ! Worship your Lord, who created you and those

who were before you, so that you may become the pious”
{Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 21}
“Oh, you who believe! Seek help in patience and pray. Truly !
Allah is with the patient”
{Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 153}

“And seek help (from Allah) with patient perseverance and

prayer; it is indeed hard except for those who are humble”
{Surat Al-Baqarah 2: 45}
“He is successful who purifies himself, and
remembers the name of his Lord and prays ”
{Surat Al-'A`la 87: 15)

“Successful, indeed, are the believers who are

humble in their prayers”
{Surat Al-Mu'minun 23:1 -2}

“And those who guard their prayers well,

such dwell in the gardens i.e. Paradise
honored”
{Surat Al-Ma`arij 70: 34 – 35}
And establish prayer at the two ends of
the day and at the approach of the night.
Indeed, good deeds do away with
misdeeds. That is a reminder for those
who remember.

The Importance of Prayer
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said,

"The first matter that the slave will

be brought to account for on the Day
of Judgment is the prayer. If it is
sound, then the rest of his deeds will
be sound.”

12
Abu Huraira reported:

Verily the Messenger of Allah ‫ ﷺ‬said:

The five (daily) prayers ( one prayer to next) ,

PRAYER from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday
prayer,
and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan
are expiations for the (sins) committed in
between (their intervals) provided one shuns the
major sins.

{Sahih Muslim 233c}

Narrated Abu Huraira:

I heard Allah's Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬saying,

"If there was a river at the door of anyone of
you and he took a bath in it five times a day
would you notice any dirt on him?“

They said, "Not a trace of dirt would be left."

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬added, "That is the example

of the five prayers with which Allah blots out
(removes) evil deeds.

{Sahih al-Bukhari 528}

Anas bin Malik narrated that:
the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬passed by a tree with dry
leaves, so he struck it with his staff, making
the leaves fall.

Then he ‫ﷺ‬said:
“Indeed, ‘all praise is due to Allah, (Al-
Ḥamdulillāhh)’ ‘glory to Allah, (Subḥān Allāh)’
‘none has the right to be worshipped but
Allah, (Lā Ilāha Illallāh)’ and ‘Allah is the
greatest (Allāhu Akbar)’
causes the sins to fall from the worshipper,
just as the leaves of this tree fall.”

{Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3533}

Virtue of Fajr Salah

Allah's Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬said,

"If the people knew the reward for pronouncing the
Adhan and for standing in the first row (in
congregational prayers) and found no other way to get
that except by drawing lots they would draw lots, and if
they knew the reward of the Zuhr prayer (in the early
moments of its stated time) they would race for it (go
early) and if they knew the reward of `Isha' and Fajr
(morning) prayers in congregation, they would come to
offer them even if they had to crawl.

Allah’s Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬said, “Angels come to you in

succession by night and day and all of them get together
at the time of Fajr and Asr prayers.
Those who have passed the night with you ascend and
Allah asks them, though he knows everything about you,
‘In what state did you leave my slaves?’
The angels reply:
‘When we left them, they were praying and when we
reached them they were praying.’”
{Bukhari 555}
Abu Bakr ibn Abe Musa narrated that his
father told him that
Allah’s Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬said,
“Whoever prays the the two cool Salat (Asr
and Fajr prayers) will enter Paradise.”
[Bukhari 574]
Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said,

“ We were with the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬and he

looked at the moon on a full moon night and
said,”
Certainly you will see your Lord as you see
this moon and you will have no trouble
seeing Him. So if you can avoid missing
(through sleep or worldly affairs) a Salah

▪ He should make up the pillar and all that comes after it, and
▪ Perform the Prostration of Forgetfulness After the Tasleem.
Merits of Friday and its Importance
Friday is a great day. Allaah has chosen it for
the Muslim nation and made it the best day of
the week.

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said: “The best day on

which the sun has risen is Friday; On it
Adam was created; On it he was
admitted to Jannah; and on it he was
expelled from it and the Last Hour will not
take place except on Friday.”
{Muslim}
Verdict of Jumu’ah Prayer

Conditions for the Validity of Al- Jumu’ah Prayer

➢ The timing: It is not allowed before or after its stated time, and its time

is the same as the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.

➢ There must be a group of not less than three; the Imaam and two

others with him.

➢ Settlement: One must be a resident in the country. It is not accepted

from a group of people who went on a picnic in the desert. Rather,

they should offer it as the Dhuhr prayer. If there is no Masjid close to
them, they must offer it in congregation.
➢ It is preceded with two sermons.
Description of Al-Jumu’ah Prayer

He ‫ ﷺ‬said: "Doing wudoo' properly at times when it is difficult to
do so, taking many steps to the mosque, and waiting for prayer
after prayer. That is constant readiness."
{Muslim, 251}

“Whoever purifies himself in his house then

walks to one of the houses of Allaah in order to
perform one of the duties enjoined by Allaah, for
every two steps he takes, one will erase a sin and
the other will raise him one degree in status.”
