With Aramis Development Limited (Jun’08 onwards):

Present assignment is now in Vietnam for the commissioning of Dung Quat


Refinery Project

Working in Project Management Team as Senior Process (Commissioning)


Engineer. The project is being executed by consortium of Technip, JGC and
Tecnicas Reunidas.

Leading a team of process and mechanical engineers responsible for the


preparation of System Pre-commissioning Manuals, Commissioning & Start-
up Procedures, Performance Guarantee Test Run Procedures for all process
units, utilities and offsites of Dung Quat Refinery Project.

Directly coordinating with Refinery Operation Manager and PMC


Commissioning Manager for matters related to commissioning and start-up
plans.

Supervising a group of operation engineers working on identification of


blinding, de-blinding, lockout requirements and preparation of marked-up
drawings for, developing and maintaining master blind & lockout registers for
refinery project.

Additional responsibilities include providing inputs to Field Engineering


department in preparation of documentation for submission to government
authorities for approvals as per statutory requirements.

Actively participating in solving process and logic related issues during


ongoing commissioning and start-up activities.

Providing guidance and support to field and control room operation group in
troubleshooting.

With Tecnicas Reunidas Gulf Co. Ltd. (Apr.’07 to Feb.’08):

The EPC contractor of the project M/s Tecnicas Reunidas Gulf had hired me
for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for their Saudi Aramco -
Hawiyah Gas Plant Expansion project. Initially, I worked in engineering office
at Spain for about 3 months. Then, I moved to site at Hawiyah – Saudi Arabia
to handle pre-commissioning activities.

At project engineering office in Spain, I worked on finalization of P&IDs and


operation manuals.

At site, I worked as Pre-commissioning & Commissioning Engineer (Process


Lead) reporting to Commissioning Manager and supported by Piping Pre-
commissioning Engineers, Static Equipment Engineer, Supervisors and
Inspectors

I defined system and sub-system for the whole project and then got the data
populated in QMIS system. I also defined test-pack limits for two units to
expedite the job of sub-contractor M/s Sinopec

With Promantec Consultants (Sep.’06 to Dec’06):

After completion of CSPC-China project, I took-up the long pending personal


project of building my own house. Towards completion of the same, I
honoured the repeated requests from my long time associates Promantec
Consultants to help-out their client UHDE India Limited in completing their

much delayed KNPC- ELMF (Cross Country Pipeline) Project at Kuwait. The
EPC contractor of the project, M/s ISCO - Kuwait had awarded the
Engineering job to M/s UHDE India Limited.

M/s UHDE deputed me to site as their Process Engineer prior to start of pre-
commissioning activities and authorized me to do all that is needed for
successful commissioning of the project.

My major contribution to the project was streamlining all activities by


implementing system based completion approach and for that I defined and
identified systems and guided the EPC contractor for completing system
dossiers. My contribution included development of Pre-commissioning and
commissioning procedures, Scheduling of commissioning activities, Advise
and guidance to EPC Contractor for field pre-commissioning and
commissioning activities and turnover documentation, Updating P&I
Drawings, Updating and revising Operation manuals and Site-coordination
with other UHDE Engineers.

With GEE-China (Mar. ’05 to Jan.’06):

Worked on assignment basis with M/s Grey Enviro Engineering – China for
the biggest integrated petrochemical project of China, i.e. CSPC Nanhai
Petrochemical Project. The project was a joint venture of China National Oil
and Offshore Corporation and Shell. I was deputed to M/s BSF China Limited
as Commissioning Engineer. The BSF China Limited, a JV company of
Bechtel- Foster Wheeler and Sinopec, had PMC role for the whole project
and also responsibility to self-perform the commissioning of a part of project,
i.e. intermediate tankages and OSBL piping.

Was reporting to Lead Commissioning Engineer. And, in the absence of Lead


Commissioning Engineer, I worked as acting Lead Commissioning Engineer
for considerable length of time.

Contribution to the project included writing of System Commissioning


Manuals, Preparing system completion dossiers; pre-commissioning,
commissioning and start-up supervision for two construction areas in
capacity of commissioning in-charge; Coordination with construction group,
client's operation team and project turnover group on daily basis.

Developed a novel approach for early turn over from construction to


commissioning group for absorbing some construction stage delays in
commissioning stage. The success of this approach was very much
appreciated by the management of BSF as well as Client and was awarded
with a cash reward for the outstanding performance.

With Promantec Consultants (Jun.’99 to Feb.’05):

Associated with a newly launched company Promantec Consultants (P)


Limited, promoted by two very experienced technocrats and worked for
following projects in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industry .

 DHDS Project – HPCL Vizag Refinery (Jun.’99 to Jun.’00):

Worked as Process Commissioning Engineer for Pre-commissioning,


Commissioning and Start-up activities of Diesel Hydro
Desulphurisation Project of M/s Hindustan Petroleum Corporation
Limited at their Vizag Refinery. The project consisted of a DHDS
Unit, a Hydrogen Plant, Sulfur Recovery Unit and Offsites & Utilities.

Joined the project team of EPC Contractor M/s Larson & Toubro
from late construction stage and was actively involved in all activities
till successful start-up of all the units.

After successful Start-up, worked in capacity of Shift in-charge for a


part of plant for a period of three months.

 Borouge Ethylene Project – Abu Dhabi (Oct.’00 to Jul.’01):

Worked in the grade of Sr. Start-Up Engineer for Pre-commissioning,


Commissioning and Start-up activities of 600 KTA Ethylene Plant
being jointly constructed by M/s Bechtel and M/s Linde AG.

Was solely responsible for identifying the contractual requirements


for pre-commissioning and commissioning documentation for the
entire project and ensuring its completion and liaison with client for
the same in capacity of documentation engineer.

Apart from above, work profile included attending client’s meeting


with commissioning manager and partial involvement in pre-punching
and punch listing of various systems and subsystems.

 ONGC Tatipaka Refinery Project (Sep.’01 to Nov.’01):

Worked in the capacity of Start-up Specialist for Commissioning and


Start-up activities of 2000 BPD capacity Refinery Project of ONGC at
Andhra Pradesh on behalf of LSTK EPC Contractor M/s NICCO
Projects Ltd.

Led the team of engineers and operators and successfully


commissioned the Refinery in absence of Licensor. Played a very
vital role in tuning of all controllers and stabilization of process
parameters of plant after successful commissioning.

After technically convincing the end user, incorporated some


changes in interlocks and operation logic in original design of licensor
M/s Ventech to provide better safety and smoother operability to the
unit.

 Petrokemya Polyethylene Project – Saudi Arabia (Feb.’03 to


Sep.’03:)

Worked in the capacity of Lead Supervisor for Pre-commissioning


activities of 8,00,000 MTPA Polyethylene Project of M/s Petrokemya
at Jubail City, Saudi Arabia on behalf of Construction contractor M/s
Saudi Toyo Engineering Company, a Middle East venture of Toyo
Engineering Corporation-Japan.

In addition to responsibilities for pre-commissioning activities of my


team of 10 engineers, special responsibilities included Logic and
Function tests and test-run of rotating machineries from DCS and
Field with client and vendor & initial regeneration of dryer-beds.

 Linear Alkyl Benzene Project – IOC Refinery (Jun.’04 to


Sep.’04):

Worked as Commissioning Engineer for 1,20,000 MTPA Linear Alkyl


Benzene Project of M/s Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Baroda,
India on behalf of Project Management Consultant M/s UHDE India
Limited.

The plant is based on UOP patented MOLEX and DETAL


technologies and it is in fact, a combination of seven different units
containing total 14 Columns, 4 Reactors, 3 Heaters, UOP Patented
simulated moving bed adsorbers and numbers of different types of
pumps and compressors.

My responsibilities included supervising LSTK Contractor M/s


Samsung for safe and smooth commissioning of LAB Plant and
providing expert advise and opinion, as and when required. Plant
has been commissioned successfully and as per schedule.

 SBAF Project – HPCL Mahul Refinery (Dec. ‘04 to Feb.’05):

Worked as Process Engineer & Deputy Commissioning Leader for


the Commissioning and Start-up of SBAF (Sulphur Block and
Associated Facilities) Project of M/s BPCL at their Mahul - Mumbai
Refinery. I accepted this short-term assignment on special request
from L&T Management.

Project consisted of two trains of Sculpture Recovery Unit, Two Sour


Water Stripper Units, One Amine Recovery Unit and one Fuel Gas
Treatment Facility.

My responsibilities included guiding a team of 12 Engineers and


operators for smooth commissioning and start-up of above units &
co-ordination with Licensor’s specialist engineer and Client’s Project
and Operation groups.

With B. Sofali and Associates (April 1997 to June 1999):

Worked with Vadilal Group as well as several other clients in small scale
organic, inorganic and industrial gas industries on assignment as well as
retainer-ship basis. Notable achievement includes followings:

 Set-up a small laboratory at client’s premises and carried out several


experiment resulting into fine tuning of operational parameters of a
plant for successful increase in yield and conversion of Nitro
Benzene

 Worked on product development to produce first ever Indian


Standard grade Sodium Hypochlorite solution for one client

 Designed, Installed and Commissioned hydrogen pressure reduction


system for almost all major vegetable oil industries of Gujarat
province to facilitate turnover from electrolytic hydrogen to bottled
hydrogen

During this period, I delivered regular lectures at North Gujarat University as


visiting faculty to post graduate students on industrial chemistry.

With Vadilal Chemicals Limited (November 1995 to April 1997):

Joined the famous Vadilal Group Company as Team Leader of Engineering


Team reporting to the Director.

Responsibilities included managing technical matters related to 6 ammonia


bottling and liquor ammonia production facilities and 1 specialty gas mixture
preparation facility together with executing new projects as Project In-charge.

Successfully constructed and commissioned two small scale units, one after
another, right from selection of location working within tight time schedule
and budget.

As there were no new projects in pipeline at M/s Vadilal, I resigned and


started free-lancing so as to have effective utilization of initial career years,
and M/s Vadilal became my first client.

With Essar Steel Limited (August 1992 to October 1995):

I was selected by the company as Graduate Engineer Trainee in a campus


interview. During training period, I was placed on deputation to Essar
Projects Limited to learn construction of project and during that period I got
good experience in civil and mechanical works during initial stage of project.

On completion of deputation period, I was placed in Oxygen & Lime


Department. After successful completion of training, I was confirmed as
Junior Engineer.

On successful completion of project, I was promoted as Senior Engineer and


made Shift In-charge for operation of tonnage air separation plant. After
operating plant for 6 months, I resigned from the company to accept another
challenging job.
