Subject Description: The course integrates language and literary lessons with Philippine literature as the focus or target stream for 7th graders. It
also incorporates 21st-century concepts and skills in response to the ever-changing and growing needs of contemporary global society.
Rationale/Goal: To produce learners who are communicatively competent users of the English language. Furthermore, the course also aims to
develop some of the essential 21st-first century skills which will help individuals adapt to and thrive in the contemporary world.
Objectives:
1. To use appropriate language learning and learning-how-to-learn strategies in identifying and analyzing communication-related or real-world
issues.
2. To enhance information technology (IT) and media literacies by accessing different media and sources, evaluating researched information for
accuracy and purpose, citing sources in the prescribed format, using information accurately and effectively in written and oral contexts, etc.
3. To improve communication and collaboration skills by engaging in varied individual and group oral and written activities for a range of
purposes.
