HOTEL SERVICED APARTMENT (G + 4P + 1HC+ 31+
PROJECT : MECH. FLOOR + ROOF) JVT07I0HR001 JVT, DUBAI,
U.A E
CLIENT : M/S. KRATI JAIN RAJESH JAIN
1- SCOPE
This method statement presents the procedure to monitor the temperature changes which
occur in concrete structures in order to enable controlling of thermal cracking in different
types of structures. The measurement purposes are to finding the temperature development
within the concrete mass. The results will show peak temperature and the temperature
differential for such measuring points.
2- INTRODUCTION
Temperature monitoring of concrete components during handling and batching, and of the
fresh concrete before and after its discharge into the forms, can be adequately accomplished
with ordinary portable thermometers capable of 0.5C resolution.
3- EQUIPMENT
1) Temperature Logger
General Specification: -
Operating Temperature:-20° C to 99° C
Reading interval:-Every 30 Minutes

2) Reader
A specially designed reader will be used for communicating with the loggers
embedded in the concrete, in order to transporting the data from loggers to a PC.
The reader is used to instruct the loggers to begin logging, download information
from loggers and upload logger data to a PC for interpretation.
4- PROCEDURE
The Temperature loggers shall be installed typically at minimum five levels at various
locations at approx. 60cm interval of the mass concrete, as shown in the below diagram. In
addition a separate logger shall be fixed near to test location in order to monitor the ambient
temperature. Temperature monitoring is normally required for mass concrete of depth above
800 mm.
The temperature loggers shall be fixed to a PVC pipe of 0.5” OD at required lengths and pipe
shall be tied to the reinforcement bars.

Measurement and recording of Temperature at fixed intervals (every half hour) will be done
automatically by the Temperature logger. Recorded data shall be collected by connecting the
reader to the loggers. Data recording shall be done minimum for 7-10 days to confirm the
heat of hydration process.
*Note: Curing Procedure and all the precautionary measurements to avoid exceeding
maximum concrete temperature and differential temperature shall be arranged by Contractor.
