1. Rules and Regulations


▪ The Diesel Gen set shall comply with the requirements of the following rules & regulations of the
latest issue.
■ LR (H3162 / H3163)
■ DNV-GL (H3164 / H3165 / H3166)
▪ The other items which are not covered in this specifications are to be manufactured in
accordance with the maker's option.

2. Installation
▪ Both Diesel Engine and A.C Alternator shall be coupled directly with dry disc coupling
and are flexibly installed on a common bed which is made of prefabricated / welded
steel structure.
▪ The diesel Gen set is to be rigidly installed on the vessel's structure of floor foundation.

3. Language and Unit


▪ Name plates and Caution plate and documents and drawings and gauge are to be
written in English.
▪ All units are to be in metric system as far as practicable.

4. Painting
▪ The diesel Generator set shall be painted with the color of followings.

Recommended Lube Oil Specification

1. Performance
Maker recommended to use of oil designed to meet categories or API service classification.

2. Viscosity
Maker recommended to use of multi-viscosity lube oil, and recommended alternative
SAE viscosity grades according to the ambient temperature are as below.

Recommended Coolant Specification

Doosan engine require a "Heavy Duty Coolant" which is defined as correct mixture of
good quality water, antifreeze and supplemental additives(SCA's)

1. Water
Good quality water is important for cooling system performance.
Excessive levels of calcium and magnesium contribute to scaling problems, and
excessive levels of chloride and sulfates cause cooling system corrosion.
Calcium and Magnesium(Hardness) Maximum 170ppm as (CaCO3 +MgCO3)
Chloride 40 ppm as (Cl)
Sulfur 100 ppm zs (SO4)

2. Anti-freezer
Fully formulated antifreeze must be mixed with quality water at a 50:50 ratio.
This mixture of antifreeze and water gives a -36℃ freezing point and 108℃ boiling
point.
Using higher concentrations of antifreeze will raise the freezing point of the solution
and increase the possibility of a silicate gel problem

3. Replacement Interval
Coolant : Drain and flush the coolant system after 1 year of service.

Recommended Room Ventilation

1. Blocking Walls
• If a blocking wall is installed, it shall be located no closer than a distance equal to 1X
the discharge louver height away from the building. For optimal performance, the wall
should be located approximately 3X the discharge louver height away from the building.
• A turning vane and drain shall be included with any blocking wall installation.
• The blocking walls can be constructed to prevent wind from blowing into the ventilation
outlet. See Figure 1. The blocking wall should be located a distance at least equal to the radia
tor outlet away from the outlet. Better performance is achieved at a distance of approximately
3 times the radiator air outlet.
A turning vane should be used to help reduce the restriction caused by the wall.
A drain should be included with the turning vane to prevent rain water from entering
the generator set room.

2. Guidelines for Inlet and Outlet Design


These requirements and recommendations will help deliver the required amount of air across
the generator set and maintain system integrity.
• Inlets and outlets shall be located such that air will flow across the entire generator set
from alternator end to radiator end.
• Ventilation air shall be drawn directly from / discharged directly to the outdoors.
• Radiator discharge ducts shall be self-supporting.
• Inlet and outlet should not be located on the same wall.
• Inlet should not be located near the engine exhaust outlet.
• Outlets should be located as high as possible and inlets as low as possible,
while maintaining fresh air flow across the entire set.
• Outlet should be located on the downwind side of the building.
