1. PURPOSE
This procedure is to provide the maintenance for Corrective/Breakdown Maintenance
and detail the method statement. The purpose of this Work Instruction is to describe
the method to be used to disconnect and reconnect the Shear Pin Load Cells of
Mooring Hawser at Single Point Mooring.
2. SCOPE
This procedure is applied for Corrective/Breakdown Maintenance and covers the
disconnection and reconnection for replacing the Shear Pin Load Cells of Mooring
Hawser from Calm buoy and recovery of the Mooring Hawser pull up to the deck of a
service vessel for Inspection/Maintenance/Repair. The work instruction and/or work
method statement will be prepared by Maintenance Division NSRP’s or
Sub-contractors and to be approved before proceeding the work.
3. RESPONSIBILITY
This procedure is approved by Division Manager (DM) of Maintenance Division.
Section Manager (SM) of Reliability Engineering section is responsible for issuing
and distributing the procedure. The procedure will be reviewed periodically, revised
and updated as needed. SM reserves the right to make any amendment and
modification this procedure subject to requirements of proper management.

6. PROCEDURE
6.1 Overview of Shear Pin Load Cells
General Description
A load measuring pin senses the force applied across it, via strain gauges installed within a
small bore through the centre of the pin. Two grooves are machined into the outer
circumference of the pin to define the shear planes, which are located between the forces
being measured.
- This operation is highly weather dependent and due to the duration of the time
involved to disconnect and reconnect, stable conditions will be required. A sea state
of Hs > 2.0 meters should be considered unworkable;
6.2.2. Special Personal Protective Equipment
- The personnel who involves into the activity are required to wear the standard
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Personnel working on the deck of the vessel
and working at offshore will be equipped life jack/vest. Additional PPE must be worn
for this procedure due to the nature of the work or the location.
- Personal protective hydrogen sulfide (H2S) detector must be worn in designated
areas.
- Suitable gloves must be worn when handling hazardous materials or contacting
a cold or hot surface.
- Double ear protection (Ear plug & Ear muff) must be attached before entering the
area with noise level above 85 dB.
- Be aware of potential hazards when working around oil and gas lines.
6.2.3. Environmental Precautions
Maintenance is conducted in accordance with governmental requirements for
protection of the environment.
- Make sure good housekeeping is carried out during/after each work;
- Do not drain or vent any liquid or Oil to an open space, on to ground, or into the sea.
Use only the approved method to drain or vent the systems;
- Gather all waste maintenance materials produced during work. After work, move and
store them at the reserved place.
