6. APPLICATION OF PROCEDURE
6.1. Positioning Equipment

6.1.1. Anchor Bolts in foundation shall be inspected prior placement of sole plate
(if any) or equipment on the foundation.
6.1.2. Anchor Bolt location and corresponding holes in sole plates and equipment
shall be checked to insure that all component are matched.
6.1.3. Anchor Bolt shall be checked for elevation, dimensional and position using
and established benchmark.
6.1.4. Anchor Bolt shall be straight and plumb, it is also inspected for damaged
threads, dies may be run over anchor bolt to clean up thread, which are
dirty.
6.1.5. Anchor Bolt sleeves shall be clean, all loose concrete, water or other
debris shall be removed.
6.1.6. Anchor bolt that are damage or improperly located shall be repaired or
replace as per client representative approval.
6.1.7. Anchor bolt shall be torque as per vendor requirement.
6.1.8. Foundation shall be inspected for soundness, roughness, and cleanliness,
prior to grouting.
6.1.9. Shipping instruction, manufacturer drawings and specifications of
equipment or motor shall be checked for lifting, moving and protection
procedures.
6.1.10. Equipment shall be clean up of all sand, and other foreign materials
immediately after removal from storage and before the equipment is
brought in installation sites. Steel shim shall be used under all equipment
and motor. Contract drawings or specification shall be checked for shim
requirements. Clearance after placement of the equipment to be sure is
not bending or distortion.

6.2. Shimming

6.2.1. Shim for final alignment and for placement or repair of motors and
equipment , minimum thickness of this shim shall be 1/8 inch.
6.2.2. Shim for elevating, leveling and support of motors and equipment. Steel
shim shall be placed on each side of anchor bolt to properly support the
equipment from the foundation. Steel shim shall also be used where
required to prevent distortion, binding breaking, levelling of equipment
soleplates and supports. Steel shim shall be located to a minimum
distance of ¼ inch from the anchor sleeve and ¼ inch form the anchor

without sleeves. Minimum width for these shim shall be 1 inch. Steel shim
do not need to be removed for grouting unless other specified.

.
6.3. Alignment

6.3.1. Equipment and motor that have been placed shall be leveled to the
elevation and positioned. Specific clearances indicated on manufacturers
drawing or in instruction manual such as rotor clearance to housing on
fans, thrust bearing clearance or setting, shaft deflection, heat differential
rise between equipment shall be checked before final alignment between
each item of equipment.
6.3.2. When one or more items of equipment or motors are to be connected by
coupling or other means, level the position the items first.
6.3.3. Shaft alignment and tolerances
The alignment of rotating machinery shaft shall be as close to perfect as
practicable. The tolerances for coupling and shaft alignment shall be no
greater than those indicated in the installation instruction or as follows,
which ever is more stringent. After due allowance for differential thermal
expansion of components and for shaft sag, the face to face distance
between disconnected coupling halves at the diametrically opposite points
on their outer edges shall not differ by more than 0.05 mm (parallel
offset) or the manufacturer tolerance, which ever is less. The horizontal
and vertical eccentricity of one half of the coupling relative to the other
shall not exceed 0.05 mm (Angular offset). The actual reading shall be
recorded.
6.3.4. Dial indicator used for coupling and shaft alignment shall be calibrate and
controlled prior the alignment started. Feeler gauges shall be used to
measure angular offset when to coupling is on a motor having sleeve
bearing, and when space limitation prevent the use of a dial indicator. Gap
tolerance or hub space preparation shall be as per drawing requirements
or client specification. Gap tolerance don’t apply for limited end float and
slide coupling application.

6.4. Inspection

6.4.1. All inspection and testing work shall follow to inspection & test plan (ITP)
and procedure followed.
6.4.2. When equipment and motor have been aligned and are ready for
inspection, the QC Engineer shall arrange and to invite the Client
representative to witness and approve the alignment check or other
inspection. The alignment records or inspection required by Client, shall
be filled in and signed at this time.

Client shall be informed in writing that any re-alignment required as a
result of this delay that have impact to the schedule shall be his expense.

6.5.1. All grouting work shall follow to procedure or technical specification.

6.5.2. Grouting of the equipment and motors shall be done following acceptance
from signing of grouting inspection record.
6.5.3. Equipment and motor shall be grouted as per requirement of manufacturers
installation manual.

6.6. Doweling

6.6.1. Doweling work shall be provide if specification or installation manual

required.
6.6.2. Tapered, removable dowels shall be used unless otherwise specified.
