ABSTRACT

Background : Sugery is a way of showing body parts to be handled, so it will cause injuries
and need the healing process. That requires a high protein intake to accelerate the wound
healing process. But, from observations and interviews conducted on 30 October 2014
showed that of the 5 patients post surgery, 4 patients of which tend to leave food that contain
protein because the patient’s family assume that the egg will cause itching that would impede
the wound healing process. Under these conditions, the researchers are interested in doing
research on “Description Knowledge of the patient’s family about the importance of
consuming protein for the process of wound healing after surgery in space Bougenville RSUD
Tanjungpinang 2015”.
Research Objectives : The purpose of this study is to describe Knowledge of the patient’s
family about the importance of consuming protein for the process of wound healing after
surgery in space Bougenville RSUD Tanjungpinang.
Methods : Using descriptive method. The sampling technique used accidental. The data
were taken using a questionnaire distributed to 30 respondents. After the data were tabulated
and analyzed using univariate and presented in the form of a frequency distribution table.
Results : The results of this research is that knowledge of the patient’s family about the
importance of consuming protein for the process of wound healing after surgery in space
Bougenville RSUD Tanjungpinang is enough (62,01%).
Conclusions and Recommendations : His indicates insufficient knowledge can pesien
limited due to the introduction of these issues. Lack of education, information, or experience
any of these issues will make a limited patient also recognize the problem. The hospital is
expected for the institution as a place of research, in order to increase knowledge about the
importance of protein intake for post-surgical patient’s family by providing counseling
importance of protein to accelerate the wound healing process.
