I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of estimation of population mean and population
proportion.
B. Performance The learner is able to estimate the population mean and population proportion to make sound
Standards inferences in real-life problems in different disciplines.
C.Learning Formulates the appropriate null and alternative hypotheses on a population proportion.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing The learners will recall population mean and population proportion by playing jeopardy labs.

lesson

B. Establishing a Divide the class into five groups. Each group will be given a map of the Philippines some of the
purpose for the lesson main cities population are indicated. The teacher will ask the learner to solve for the sample
proportion of each indicated cities as fast as they can. (Their skills in using the map and
knowledge of the different region will be tested)
C.Presenting The teacher will present the objective of today’s lesson and present example no. 1

the new lesson. It is believed that in the coming election, 65% of the voters in the province of Tarlac will vote
the administration candidate for governor. Suppose 713 out of 1,150 randomly selected
voters indicate that they would vote for the administration candidate. At 0.10 level of
significance, find out whether the percentage of voters for the administration candidate is
different from 65%.

Ask the learner to recall the five steps in when testing hypothesis.
Step 1: State the null and the alternative hypotheses.
Step 2: Choose a level of significance α.
Step 3: Compute the test statistics.
Step 4: Determine the critical value.
Step 5: Make a decision.

Step 5: Make a decision.
Draw a conclusion.
Since the computed test statistics z = -2.133 falls in the rejection region, reject the null
hypothesis. Conclude that at 0.10 level of significance, there is enough evidence that the

application or The principal of a certain high school claims that 85% of all the students is in favor of the
remediation new school uniform. A Statistics teacher asked his students to verify the claim. Suppose that
451 out of 550 randomly selected students indicated that they are in favor of the new school
uniform. At o.o5 level of significance, is there enough evidence to conclude that the
percentage of students who are in favor of the new uniform is different from 85%?
