1. Introduction:
This is a research writing discussion in which three different research items have been discussed
in part-1. The first research item is a published textbook “The Craft Research” written by
“Booth, W.C. el, 2003”. This published textbook contains different chapters but our focus is on
chapter 6,” Using Sources”. Second research item is a business case study about the Hard- Brexit
deal written by” John Van Reenen”. This business case study demonstrates the different factors
and economic conditions of Hard-Brexit deal. The last research item is a published journal
article “The Financial Crisis of 2007-2009”. This published journal article gives information
about the different factors that caused the 2007-2009 financial crisis and the impact on the world
economy. Part-2 of this module is written reflective statement that has covered the reflection on
gained learning, usefulness of such learning to me and my areas of interest of study and
importance of learning.

2.0 PART-1
2.1 Interesting about the research Item

Chapter 6 from Craft Research: Using sources

The first research item is a chapter 6 “Using Sources” of a published book “The Craft
Research”(Booth, Booth et al. 2003). The chapter from the published book helps to understand
the different techniques and tools that are important for writing. This chapter helps to understand
the importance of proper sources in academic writing.

Journal Article
The interesting thing that is present in this item is a Hard-Brexit deal and its impact on the global
economy. Hard-Brexit was an agreement by which the UK will not be a part of any single market
and single country of the European Union. So the effect of this deal was on the UK
economy(Armstrong and Portes 2016).

Business Case Study

In this item, the interesting thing was the financial crisis of 2007-2009 that collapsed the
economy of many developing and developed countries(Thakor 2015). There were many reasons
for this crisis. So this business case study helps to understand the different causes and reasons for
the 2007-2009 financial crisis.

2.2 Why interesting

Chapter 6 from Craft Research: Using sources

Chapter 6 of this published book contains information about the use of proper sources in written
work. For that purpose, this item is interesting as it gives information about the use of proper
sources for a written work(Booth, Booth et al. 2003).

Journal Article
The journal article contains information about the Hard-Brexit deal with the European Union.
This item is interesting as this gives knowledge about the deal and impacts on the

3
economy(Armstrong and Portes 2016). So this research item is interesting for getting knowledge
about the deal and their financial impacts on the economy.

Business Case Study

The business case study is also interesting for academic research and writing because it gives
information about the 2007-2209 financial crisis that collapsed the global economy(Thakor
2015). This business case study gives information about the reasons that caused the financial
crisis.

2.3 How useful for studies/development

Chapter 6 from Craft Research: Using sources

This book chapter contains information about the use of proper sources in academic writing. So
this book chapter is important for different concepts that are used for written tasks. Use of more
authentic and reliable sources is important for the published work(Booth, Booth et al.
2003). This has helped to know the use more valid sources to researches effectively.

Journal Article
The journal article helps to understand about the Hard-Brexit deal. This gives the information
about the Hard-Brexit deal due to which there was an economic breakdown occurred in the
UK(Baker, Bloom et al. 2016). This research item helped to know about online journals and their
evaluation to support the research literature effectively.

Business Case Study

The business case study contains information about the 2007-2009 financial crises and its impact
on the world economy. The business case study is important for academic writer and researches
as this gives information about the different reasons for the 2007-2009 crises(Becker and
Milbourn 2011). This has also helped to develop reading skills by critically reading the given
topics to understand effectively what is told.

2.4 Three key points of information or argument considered important to in 3 research

items

2.4.1 First key point

Strategy is the key point of three research items chosen as this plays an important role to make
efficient academic writing. So the proper implementation of strategy by setting the ways of
presenting data and information using different sources in journal article and case study item
effectively that plays an important role in academic researches and writers.  In addition, the
journal article contains information about the Hard-Brexit deal that is presented by using strategy
of research methodologies for ensuring reliability and validity effectively(Berger and Bouwman
2013). The article has mentioned that appropriate business strategy must be strategic and realistic
to improve the economy of the country. The business case study deals with the financial crisis
that needs strategy of controlling the inflation and deflation rate in the nation(Thakor 2015).

4
2.4.2 Second key point
Planning is also an important factor for good academic and research writing. From chapter 6
“Using Sources” planning is essential for writing a good academic and research writing as it
improves the quality of a written work(Booth, Booth et al. 2003). The use of planning is an
essential part of every business deal. The research paper tells about the Hard-Brexit deal but
there was a lack of planning in Hard-Brexit deal and due to which the UK suffered from different
problems.  The case study also tells that planning is not used in different business deals(Berger
and Bouwman 2013). The lack of planning caused the 2007-2009 financial crises that collapsed
many countries economy(Thakor 2015).

2.4.3 Third key point

The use of authentic and reliable sources identifies different problems. Problems are necessary to
identify to improve writing and academic research. Problems identification is an important part
of writing and academic research.   From the journal article, many problems were found due to
the Hard-Brexit deal such as decreased employment, decreased income level and decreased
government revenues etc.(Armstrong and Portes 2016). These problems caused the economic
breakdown in the UK. So for that purpose, the problems are necessary to identify to improve the
business management.  From the business case study, there were no problems identified and that
caused the financial crisis. So to improve the business problems must analyse so that it will not
affect the system.

3.0 Part 2
Introduction:
Part-2 of this module is written reflective statement that has covered the reflection on gained
learning, usefulness of such learning to me and my areas of interest of study and importance of
learning. From this module, as leaner some basic knowledge about different research items have
been gained effectively that will be helpful to me when I will conduct different researches and
case studies at upper level of my degrees.

3.1 What is learnt from the module?

There are many new concepts have been learnt from the module. These concepts are related to
different research items and modules. The use of proper knowledge is important for the
understanding of different researches. This has helped me to develop skill of using secondary
sources in researches. In addition, by analysing journal article has helped me to develop the
referencing skills in research task(Embree 2011). However, this has also helped to develop my
analytical skills by critically assess the business care study chosen in this module of study. These
different modules help to understand the different techniques and tools that are important for the
understanding of modules. The learning from different modules also helps to make the academic
writing strong for the understanding of different topics that are important for the correct working
of a module.

3.2 Why that learning might be important?

The skills those have been gained by this module might be important to me to analysing anything
critically for solving the business problems effectively. The skill of referencing is also important
to ensure research validity and research reliability highly. The sourcing skill is also important to
research article for ensuring good academic writing style. The learning is important because it
gives basic knowledge about the different modules and after that, the modules should be
implemented to get the required results. The learning helps to maintain the different requirements
that are necessary for the improvement of different modules(Osmond and Darlington 2005).
Different techniques are used for the improvement of different modules. These different modules
are important for learning as these modules help to understand the different parameters for good
academic and research writing.

3.3 How useful to you and your areas of interest?

The gained analytical skill from this module will be useful in my future research career where I
have to conduct different researches, case study and analysis of journal article appropriately. In
addition, this module is also useful to my future as this has helped me to gain referencing process
in research article that will help me to conduct a good research work for my industry
effectively(Brydges and Butler 2012). The sourcing skill which has been developed by this
module will be useful in my professional development by completing good research works
through collecting data and information from different secondary sources those are reliable and
authentic to the chosen research task.

6
Conclusion:
The purpose of this academic writing article is to understand the different modules and their
implementation in daily routine life. Academic writing research contains different modules that
are used in different conditions. The first module is the use of proper sources in written work that
helps to understand the different techniques for the understanding of research and academic
writing. The second module is a research article that helps to understand the journal articles and
their importance. The last module is a business case study that deals with the business case study
that helps to improve the knowledge of business study in a written work.
