The RUP (Renewable Urban Pioneer) club under AEC Foundation is formed by a group of

youth volunteers, mostly from Grade 7-Undergraduate students in the USA, China and
Canada. The 2021-2022 project for RUP is "Save the Ocean".
Plans, actions, and outcomes:
1. doing research about how pollution impacts the Ocean's ecosystem, especially the
pollution from the industrials' activities. They are going to publish their research on the
club website around the end of November 2022.
2. designing eco-friendly product to sell to the public to promote no plastic environment.
They designed two shopping totes by themselves, found the factory to produce the totes
and shipped to the States. They are waiting for the totes’ arriving and will sell it to the
public to raise the money to support their other projects or donate the profit to other
nonprofit organizations which are also caring about saving the ocean. Check the website
to buy the products soon. https://www.aecglobal.org/clubs/rup-2022
3. promoting saving the ocean through posting photos or videos on the social medias to
raise the public awareness of reducing the pollution.
4. Equipping themselves with more knowledge of environmental science. They learned
certified courses through United Nation’s e-learning platform. They have learned three
courses already and had certification. The courses are: (1) Climate Change: from learning
to action; (2) Indicators for an inclusive green economy; (3) Gender Equality and Human
Rights in Climate Action and Renewable Energy
5. Hosting seminars to advocate saving the ocean. https://youtu.be/M9sQHbGoUbo
6. RUP (Renewable Urban Pioneers): Save the Ocean is an official partnership program of
the United Nations, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal Number 14. We are
committed to improving life under water by mitigating the effects of industrial waste
through a unique combination of education, action, and innovation.
7. practicing leadership skills through
 taking initiative: join the meeting on time, bring up ideas, participate the discussion, and
follow the plans.
 organizing the meeting, set up the goals, make plans, motivate the team members,
coordinate, follow through, guide the changes and improvement, lead participation of
others so that all will benefit, and resolve the problem to make things happen.
