Notes:

1. General
A. The contractor shall verify and be responsible for all dimensions and
conditions at the site and shall notify siemens of any discrepancies
between actual conditions and information shown on the drawings,
prior to proceeding with the work.
B. The contract structural drawings and specifications represent the
complete design of the structure. They do not indicate the methods of
construction unless so stated or noted. The contractor shall provide all
measures necessary to protect the workmen or other persons during
construction. Such measures shall include but not be limited to bracing,
shoring for earth banks, forms, scaffolding, planking, safety nets,
supports and bracing.
C. Plans, sections and details shall not be scaled for determination of
quantities, lengths, or fit of materials.
D. All drawings shall be read in conjunction with the contract
specifications.
E. All works and materials shall conform in all respect to the
requirements of the contract and technical specifications. In the event
of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the drawings and contract
specifications contractor shall immediately get it clarified.
F. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the general
notes drawings and any specific design drawing, detail shown in the
design drawing shall govern.
G. Drawings and all seismic analysis and design associated with it have
been performed in agreement and compliance with the specifications
and critical seismic information indicated in general design criteria
structural engineering (gdcse).
H. All underground pits, trenches and tunnels etc. Retaining water shall
have minimum 200mm wide (uno) waterstop at construction joints.
Waterstop should have no interference with reinforcement bars.
I. Equipment erector shall adequately support equipment skids and
pipe supports by correctly placed shims prior to grouting. Skids shall be
fully grouted under entire skid beams (uno).
J. For electrical conduit stub-up locations and grounding pads refer to
conduit stub-up grounding arrangement drawings of the respective
area.
K. Civil contractor shall design all the temporary work and formwork for
construction. During construction proper drainage of plant area have to
be provided by contractor by means of temporary drainage until the
final drainage arrangement are in place.
2. Dimensions & levels

A. All dimensions are in millimeters. Levels and coordinates are in


meters uno. B. Levels finished floor level ±0.000m = +342.980 above sea
level (asl) finished ground level -0.200m = refer to general layout
drawing no. 1q1048-uz-kld011-600001 road level -0.200m = refer to
general layout drawing no. 1q1048-uz-kld011-600001 rough grade level
-0.300m = +54.800m msnm water table is 4-5m below ground level and
has no effect on new foundations and excavations

Khormala phase ii project site is within the boundary of phase i and


phase iii. Ground leveling work of the plant is done. The ground has a
slope towards the north of the plant. Finished floor level of phase ii
structures are decided to match with the existing ground level. Finished
floor levels of different areas of the plant are provided in general layout
drawing drawing 1q1048-uz-kld011-600001. Area wise levels are
provided below area 1 (11/12uha, 1oula etc) = -0.1001+0.420m =
+342,880m/+343,400m asl area 2 (31/32uha, 3oula etc) =
±0.0001+0.520m = +342.980m1+343.500m asl area 3 (10/20/30uma
etc) = +0.820 = +343.800 asl area 4 (10/20/30urc etc) = +1.670m =
+344.650 asl
C. The siemens plant coordinate system x=0.00, y=0.00 correspondence
to utm coordinate e=389582.340, n=3980901.200. Angle between plant
north and true north = 39.439 degree.

3 blinding concrete
A. Blinding concrete of minimum 50mm thickness shall be provided
below foundations and underground structures uno. For filling
purposes and as lean concrete layer underneath foundations minimum
grade of concrete shall be f'c = 20 n/mm2 as per customer's
requirements.
B. Blinding concrete shall extend at least 50mm beyond structural
concrete uno.
4. Structural concrete .
A. All exposed edges shall be chamfered 20/20mm uno.
B. Geometrical tolerances shall be as per aci 117-2005.
C. The anchor bolts/fittings, sleeves and pockets are to be installed in
such a manner that their position and verticality is secured during
concreting.
D. Minimum grade of concrete for structural purpose shall be with 28
days characteristic cylindrical compressive strength of 35n/mm2
(equivalent to c35/45). All structural concrete shall be provided in
conformance with relevant aci and astm provisions and as per
specifications. Minimum compressive cylindrical strength of structural
concrete shall be fc = 35 n/mm2 according to aci 318.
E. Soundness and homogeneity of concrete for water tightness of all
underground/water retaining structures shall be ensured.
F. All underground/water retaining structures shall have appropriate
admixtures and water proofing compound.
G. Mixing and handling of concrete shall be in accordance with aci-301,
302, 304r, 304.2r 305r, 306r, 308, 309r 318-05.
H. Before placement of grout on surface areas, the contractor shall
ensure that any plain or polished surface are removed and roughened
e.G. With a needle hammer drill. This contact surface shall be free from
oil, grease or loose adherent material. All bolt holes and fixing pockets
shall be blown clean of any dirt or debris.
I. All foundation bolt sleeves shall be filled with grout after equipment
is placed and aligned.
J. Where concrete slab is indicated as sloped (to drain), the reinforcing
cover requirements shall be maintained at the low point of concrete.
And if at high point location cover is more than 3" (75mm). Wire mesh
of #2 bar @6" (150mm) c/c shall be provided.
K. In the construction joint area or before beginning of second stage
concreting, the following shall be taken care. The construction joint
area shall be roughened and thoroughly cleaned with compressed air to
remove any loose aggregates. The joint area shall be suitably prepared
using bonding agent.
L. For typical details of concrete structures refer to document no.

M. Casting of structural concrete against soil shall not be permitted. All
structural concrete shall be casted casted on a layer of blinding
concrete.
5. Reinforcement
A. Reinforcement shall be firmly supported on chairs and bearing bars
as per approved method. Chairs and bearing bars for supporting
reinforcement shall be planned and provided by civil contractor.
B. Grade of concrete cover blocks shall be same as that of structural
concrete. Pvc cover block may be used only after approval by site
personnel and based on local construction practice.
C. If required, reinforcement shall be marginally shifted or bent to clear
openings, embedments etc but in no case shall be cut uno.
D. Reinforcement bars shall be staggered for laps.
E. Reinforcement around pockets/recess shall be locally cut at site and
minimum additional reinforcement shall be provided around the
opening/recess if not detailed in reinforcement drawing as per td-46 in
document no. 1q1048-u4clc070-600031.
F. Minor adjustment of rebar around sleeves & openings to be done at
site "if required & approved by site personnel".
G. Spacing shown in the reinforcement drawings is the maximum
spacing. It can be adjusted based on the number of bars.
H. Reinforcement steel shall be astm a615 grade 60 or equivalent
including supplementary requirements s1.1 and s1.2. Yield tensile
strength: 60000 psi (420 n/mm2) tensile strength: 90000 psi (620
n/mm2) welded wire fabric shall be astm a185 for welded plain steel
and astm a497 for welded deformed steel.
I. Without prior approval from site personnel welding of reinforcement
shall not be carried out.
J. The development length bar for good bond condition (bottom layer
reinforcement) and for bad bond condition (top layer reinforcement)
conforming to aci 318-08 shall be as per td-56 in document no. 1q1048-
u-clc070-600031.
K. Minimum cover to main reinforcement, measured from formwork
surface to outermost surface of main reinforcement to which cover
requirement is specified, uno shall be:
i. Wall above ground surface = 40 mm
ii. Wall below ground surface = 75 mm (cast against or exposed to
earth)
iii. Beam in superstructure = 40 mm iv. Column in superstructure = 40
mm v. Top & bottom face precast slab = 30 mm vi. Top & bottom face
of suspended/roof slab = 40 mm
vii. Top face of foundation slab = 50 mm
viii. Bottom face & side face of foundation slab = 75 mm (cast against or
exposed to earth)
6. Grout
a. Grout shall be non-metallic shrinkage resistant: astm c1107 grade c,
factory-packaged, nonmetallic aggregate grout, noncorrosive, no
staining, mixed with water to consistency suitable for application and a
30-minute working time. Compressive strength will be minimum 24
n/mm2 after 1 day and 50 n/mm2 after 28 days (thickness should be
per manufacturer's recommendation).
7. Concrete ancillaries
A. All gratings for collection pit/inside drainage channel covering shall
be minimum 40mm thick uno.
B. Grating shall be dimensioned as per requirement shown in formwork
drawings. Maximum span shall be 1500mm.
C. Live load for grating shall be 5kn/m2 uno.
D. Chequered plates for cover shall be minimum 6mm thick (excluding
projections) uno. Chequered plate shall be hot dip galvanized in the
workshop. Chequered plate shall be non-slip type with ribs. Cutting is
not allowed at site except for temporary covers of openings and minor
modification as approved by site personnel. For small plates with a
surface below 0.6m2 cutting and touch up on site is allowed.
E. All drainage pipes shall be of dn150 cast ironipvc/hdpe/pe pipes uno.
Drainage pipe shall be able to withstand a maximum temperature of
70°c. For high temperature requirements dn150 cast iron drain pipes or
as indicated in design drawing shall be used.
F. All embedded plates shall be flush with face of concrete uno.
G. All standard embedded parts such as insert plates, edge angles,
anchor plates, pipe sleeves etc shall have minimum grade of astm a36.
H. Insert plates shall be fixed using headed studs.
I. Welded studs shall be nelson anchor or equivalent. All steel headed
studs shall be welded to structural plates to develop the full tension
capacity of the studs. Stud shall be mininum 100mm of length uno.
J. All bolts shall be protected from damage before, during and after
installation by civil contractor. The upper part of anchor bolts shall be
protected with removable pipes or equivalent pieces during
construction. The thread shall not be taped. Refer to td-08 in document
no. Iq1048-u-&clc070-600031.
8. Anchor bolts, nuts and embedded parts
a. All anchor bolts shall be of grade astm f1554 grade 36, grade 55 or
grade 105 according to the astm standards. Anchor bolts shall not be
galvanized and shall be set using templates. Anchor bolts and its
assembly shall be provided as per details provided in form work
drawings.
B. Provide heavy hex nuts of grade astm a563 with each bolt. Provide
washers of grade astm f436 (uno). C. All bolts shall have threads at top
and at bottom as per details provided in formwork drawing. Minimum
thread length will be 150mm (uno).
D. Deviation in plan between any point of anchor bolt at the surface of
concrete member and the setting out position shown in the drawing
should not exceed ±6mm.
E. Maximum tilt with respect to plumb of a bolt shall be 1 in 75, but in
maximum ±3mm in plan between top of the bolt and surface of
concrete member.
F. Top level of holding down bolt will be accurate within tolerance of -
0/+12mm.
G. Edge angles, grating, checkered plates, etc. Shall be hot dip
galvanized and shall be of grade astm a36 uno.
H. All anchor fasteners shall be hilti or equivalent, esr qualified for
seismic design use as per local availability. Installation shall be as per
manufacturer's recommendation (uno). Seismic qualification in
accordance with icc-es acceptance criteria ac308 and aci 355.4
(qualification of post-installed adhesive anchors in concrete) is
necessary.
J. Openings, pipe sleeves, conduits shall be protected from fresh
concrete by plugging with plastic caps or other suitable material before
pouring of concrete.
K. Welding to all high strength anchor bolts (fy > 40000 psi) shall be
strictly avoided.
I. Protect all anchor bolts during shipment and storage to prevent rust
& thread damage.
M. Civil contractor shall take necessary precautions to protect anchor
bolt sleeves and grout pockets from filling with water & debris during
construction.
N. All anchor bolt shall be protected during construction from any
vechicle or machine movement.
O. Anchor bolt / bolt group shall be covered with wooden box or by any
other means to avoid any tripping hazard during construction.
9. Foundation earthing
A. Foundation earthing shall be provided as per respective foundation
earthing drawing. In case of missing foundation earthing drawing
contractor shall bring it to the notice of the site personnel well in
advance of pouring schedule.

10. Expansion joint/construction joint


A. Expansion joint shall be provided at location shown in form work
drawing refer to td-36 and 39 in document no. 101048-u-&clc070-
600031.
B. Polysulphide sealant conforming to relevant codes shall be used for
sealing of joints.
C. Construction joints in walls are shown in formwork drawing and
should be followed by contractor. Construction joints in slab will be
planned by contractor at suitable location and agreed with site
personnel. Contractor shall ensure serviceability of construction joints.
D. Construction joint shall be at right angles to main reinforcement
unless otherwise shown in drawing. E. All underground
pits/trenches/culverts etc. Exposed to ground water shall have pvc
water stops at construction joint location.
F. In construction joint area, before beginning of second stage
concreting, the concrete surfaces shall be roughened and cleaned with
compressed air to remove any dirt. The joint area shall be prepared
using bonding agent, immediately before second stage concrete is
poured.
11. Miscellaneous
a. Galvanized wire shall be left inside the cable conduits for cable
pulling or any suitable arrangement shall be done as per standard
practice.
B. Couplings for gripping and holding of pvc cable conduits with proper
alignment shall be provided.
C. All openings for electrical cables shall be fire sealed and water sealed
after installation of cables.
D. Pvc pipes for cable shall be cleaned after laying by means of suitable
fibre brush and closed with end caps.
E. To fix cable conduit along the route conduit separators shall be
placed at distance of around 1.5m to maintain horizontal and vertical
distance between conduit.
12. Corrosion protection
A. Grating shall be welded bar type refer drawing no.1q1048-u-
81clc070-600031 for details. Outdoor grating to be serrated or non-
skid. B. Corrosion protection measure to be taken accordingly as
specifield in table below.

13. Formwork
a. The formwork for all concrete faces exposed to earth shall be 51
(rough formwork type) .
B. The formwork for all concrete faces covered with steel cladding or
other means shall be 51 (rough formwork type) .
C. The formwork for all fair face concrete finish shall be s2 (smooth
formwork type) .
D. Civil contractor shall design all temporary work and formwork
required for construction.
E. Civil contractor shall be responsible for maintaining the structure and
excavation in a safe and stable condition during construction.
G. Civil contractor shall be responsible for dewatering and sheet piling
work if necessary.
14. Precast concrete member
A. Concrete used for precast member shall have minimum 28 days
characteristic cylindrical compressive strength of 35nimm2.
B. Lifting hooks or any suitable lifting arrangement shall be provided.
Minimum two hooks for slabs of width up to 500mm. Above that
minimum four hooks shall be provided and arrangement shall be such
that there is no tilting of structural members c. While lifting of precast
members it shall be ensured that all edges are intact without damage.
D. Geometric tolerances shall be as per aci 117-10. Form work shall be
of s2 type (uno).

15. Settlement monitoring point


A. Settlement monitoring points shall be installed at most convenient
location of the foundation. This shall be always accessible during
construction and commissioning and are to be protected against
damage at all times. Damaged or inaccessible monitoring points shall
be immediately replaced by contractor to nearest possible location.
16. Engineering fill
a. All formation levels of shallow foundation are to be compacted to a
minimum of 97% of maximum dry density within acceptable limit of the
optimum moisture content.
B. Frost depth is 400mm (max) below rgl. Foundation slabs for which
slab bottom level is above frost line, edge thickening of blinding
concrete at the periphery will be provided to prevent back pressure due
to frosting at slab bottom. Refer to td-01 in document no.
