INTRODUCTION

NAME OF ENTREPRENEUR: Divya Gokulnath

NAME OF ENTERPRISE: BYJU’S LEARNING
APP
CO –FOUNDER: BYJU Raveendran
PROFILE

Bengaluru is where Divya was born and raised. Her

mother was a programming executive for the Indian
government broadcaster Doordarshan, while her father
was a nephrologist at Apollo Hospitals. Divya is her
parents' lone child.

She first met Byju Raveendran, her GRE exam instructor,

after she graduated in 2007. She asked questions in the
breaks between the classes, and Byju encouraged her to
become a teacher.

At age 21, she began her career as a teacher in 2008. It

was an auditorium-style class with 100 students, she told
Fortune India in 2020. They were only a few years
younger than me, so I went to class in a saree to appear
more mature. She taught math, English, and logical
reasoning throughout her teaching career.
Byju's, an online education platform that first offered in-
person education to assist school learning before adding
a website app with video courses, was created in 2011 by
Divya and her husband. In certain instructional videos,
Divya has acted as a teacher using her knowledge. To
ensure that students continued to study during the
COVID-19 epidemic, Divya oversaw user experience,
content, and brand marketing. Byju's educational
materials were made available to students for free during
the pandemic as a result of these efforts, and this
resulted in the addition of 13.5 million new users,
bringing the total to 50 million by April 2020 and a total
of 70 million students by September 2020, ultimately
resulting in the acquisition of 4.5 million subscribers.

She was chosen to lead the EdTech Taskforce of the

Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry
in March 2022.
CONCLUSION

Edtech Decacorn has a mission to democratize

education and give every child the chance to learn.
During the pandemic, BYJU'S introduced the
"Education for All" (EFA) program. The social impact
initiative gives students from underserved areas
and lower socioeconomic backgrounds access to
free educational materials. And in just one year, it
has benefited 3.4 million students. 57 percent of
the students credit BYJU'S with improving their
performance. Additionally, girls make up 47% of all
beneficiaries.

With the aid of their learning platform, the

entrepreneur encourages students to carry on their
own learning.
