Extreme Sports That I Love To Do

One of the extreme sports that I love to do is parkour. Parkour is an extreme urban sport that’s

all about getting from one point to another point in a complex environment, without assistive equipment

and in the fastest and most efficient way possible. That can mean scrambling over walls, leaping

between buildings or jumping off a roof. Parkour has been influenced by buildering, an urban climbing.

Parkour was developed in France, primarily by Raymond Belle, and further by his son David

Belle and the latter’s group of friends, the self-styled Yamakasi, during the late 1980s. The discipline was

popularised in the late 1990s and 2000s through films, documentaries and advertisements featuring the

Yamakasi.

The word parkour derives from parcours du combattant (obstacle course), the classic obstacle

course method of military training. Raymond Belle used the term “les parcours” to encompass all his

training including climbing, jumping, running, balancing and the other methods he undertook in his

personal athletic advancement.

Parkour itself is not illegal, but if you practise on private property, you can get cited, fined or

even arrested for trespassing, depending on local laws. It can be a high-risk activity, which is why in

some situations, a parkour practitioner also known traceur can end up in legal trouble.

Travelling Around
Dear Mum,
I have been in England for nearly a week and it has been great so far. The
programme my friends organised before my arrival couldn’t have been better.
After that quick and unforgettable stay in York, our two-day visit to Stratford-
upon-Avon has been just as pleasant. 33. Did you know that his plays are still
regularly performed in this theatre?
I think you would also like to mix with all the tourists who come from all over
the world and stop just to look at the innumerable swans and ducklings swimming in the
river Avon, which goes right by the theatre.
Gillian has been our guide. 34. Early in the afternoon, she also took us to the
church where Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway.
If I had some money with me, tomorrow I would buy a jumper I saw in a shop
when we got out of the couch. 35. Anyway, there was a sale in a shop we walked past.
So, I bought a body-warmer. Paula says it couldn’t suit me better.
I have already bought a few presents for you and daddy. 36. Well, it will be
just another week, won’t it?
Love,
Jasmine

A She had been to the place a few times before.

B But you’ll have to wait until I arrive.

C It was made of pure Shetland wool and I would have the chance to show off at school
this coming winter.

D We have been to the house where Shakespeare lived with his wife and to the Royal
Shakespeare Theatre as well.

said he was happy to know I liked football. He asked for my mobile number because he
wanted to contact me more often.

ever give any personal information to someone you meet on the internet!’’. 38.
Two days later, I received a phone message from Beckham inviting me to a party at
his house. 39. I can’t wait to tell everyone about this.
At lunch break, I told my friends the big news. To my surprise, they started
laughing and laughing. It was a big lie. They had pretended to be Cristiano Ronaldo and

made fun I was so embarrassed!

E So, I gave it to him my contact number and home address, too.

F This was so extraordinary that I couldn’t keep it to myself.

G I told him I was his fan and I loved watching him play.

H They wanted to punish me for preferring to be on the Internet alone at home than
going out with them.
