Xiǎo Cí: ABC bǎihuò gōngsī de huàn jì pāimài yǐjīng kāishǐ le, wǒmen jīntiān
(Xiaoci:) xiàbān yǐhòu qù guàngguang ba!
(ABC department store’s seasonal sale has already begun. After we
knock off work today, let’s go take a look!)
美英: 好啊! 对了，你怎么知道ABC百货公司有大拍卖？
Měiyīng: Hǎo a! Duì le, nǐ zěnme zhīdào ABC bǎihuò gōngsī yǒu dà pāimài？
(Meiying:) (Okay! By the way, how did you know that ABC department store is
having a sale?)
小慈: 噢，我看到了它们在报章上登的广告。
Xiǎo Cí: Ō, wǒ kàn dào le tāmen zài bàozhāng shàng dēng de guǎnggào.
(Xiaoci:) (Oh, I saw their ad in the papers.)
美英: 那么，你想要买什么东西？
Měiyīng: Nàme, nǐ xiǎng yào mǎi shénme dōngxi?
(Meiying:) (So, what do you plan to buy?)
小慈: 我想买几件上班穿的衣服。
Xiǎo Cí: Wǒ xiǎng mǎi jǐ jiàn shàngbān chuān de yīfu.
(Xiaoci:) (I’m thinking of buying some businesswear.)
美英: 我也是，我想买一些套装。
Měiyīng: Wǒ yě shì. Wǒ xiǎng mǎi yìxiē tàozhuāng.
(Meiying:) (Me too; I’m thinking of buying a few suits.)
小慈: 化妆品满两千块还送两百块礼券。精品也买一万送一千。你不是想
买一个名牌包吗？可以行动了！
Xiǎo Cí: Huàzhuāngpǐn mǎn liǎng qiān kuài hái sòng liǎng bǎi kuài lǐquàn.

(They’re giving a ￥200 voucher for every￥2,000 spent on cosmetics;
and a ￥1,000 voucher for every￥10,000 spent on branded goods.
Didn’t you want to buy a branded bag? You can do it now!)
美英: 好像有很多折扣商品，而且每一种东西都好像很便宜。
Měiyīng: Hǎoxiàng yǒu hěn duō zhékòu shāngpǐn, érqiě měi yì zhǒng dōngxi dōu
(Meiying:) hǎoxiàng hěn piányi.
(Looks like there are lots of items on sale, and everything seems really
affordable!)
小慈: 跟平常比起来，现在买东西真的比较划算。
Xiǎo Cí: Gēn píngcháng bǐ qǐlái, xiànzài mǎi dōngxi zhēnde bǐjiào huásuàn.
(Xiaoci:) (Compared to their usual prices, these sale items are really great
bargains now.)
美英: 划算是划算，不过买以前还是要想一想。
Měiyīng: Huásuàn shì huásuàn, búguò mǎi yǐqián háishì yào xiǎng yì xiǎng.
(Meiying:) (That may be true, but it’s still best to stop and think before buying.)
小慈: 你太理性了！
Xiǎo Cí: Nǐ tài lǐxìng le!
(Xiaoci:) (You’re too rational!)
美英: 是啊，赚钱不容易，所以我一定要精打细算！
Měiyīng: Shì a, zhuànqián bù róngyì, suǒyǐ wǒ yídìng yào jīngdǎ-xìsuàn!
(Meiying:) (That’s right. Money doesn’t come easy, so I have to spend it wisely!)

In this recording, you’ll hear a man and a woman speaking to each other. Listen to the
couple’s dialogue and choose the best answer to each question in the book. Listen to
the recording a second time if you didn’t catch everything the first time round.

男: Kelly，明天晚上你要做什么？
Nán: Kelly, míngtiān wǎnshang nǐ yào zuò shénme?
(Man:) (Kelly, what would you like to do tomorrow night?)
女: 星期六晚上…当然是去逛街吃饭！
Nǚ: Xīngqīliù wǎnshang, dāngrán shì qù guàngjiē chīfàn!
(Woman:) (It’s Saturday night, so…shopping and eating out of course!)
男: 逛街？上个星期日和这个星期三你已经买了衣服和鞋子了，这个周
末还要去？
Nán: Guàngjiē? Shàng ge Xīngqīrì hé zhège Xīngqīsān nǐ yǐjīng mǎi le yīfu
(Man:) hé xiézi le, zhège zhōumò hái yào qù?
(Shopping? You already shopped for clothes and shoes on Sunday and
Wednesday. You’re shopping again this weekend?)
女: 我想去买化妆品，现在有一些特价的组合,很划算呢！
Nǚ: Wǒ xiǎng qù mǎi huàzhuāngpǐn, xiànzài yǒu yìxiē tèjià de zǔhé, hěn
(Woman:) huásuàn ne!
(I’m going to shop for cosmetics. There are some items on sale right
now—they’re great bargains!)
男: 划算是划算，可是你还有很多化妆品，不是吗？
Nán: Huásuàn shì huásuàn, kěshì nǐ hái yǒu hěn duō huàzhuāngpǐn, bú shì
(Man:) ma?
(I know that they’re great bargains, but don’t you have lots of cosmetics
already?)
女: 我想买新的颜色嘛。春天要到了，我要买一些春天的颜色。
Nǚ: Wǒ xiǎng mǎi xīn de yánsè ma. Chūntiān yào dào le, wǒ yào mǎi yìxiē
(Woman:) chūntiān de yánsè.
(Come on, I need to get some new colors. It’s going to be spring; and I
need to get some colors for the spring season.)
男: 什么是春天的颜色？粉红色？
Nán: Shénme shì chūntiān de yánsè? Fěnhóngsè?
(Man:) (What are spring colors? Pink?)
女: 对呀，还有黄色，绿色。

Nǚ: Duì ya, hái yǒu huángsè, lǜsè.

(Woman:) (Yes, and yellow and green.)
男: 你的紫色和蓝色还没用完呀，我不觉得这两个颜色不适合春天。
Nán: Nǐ de zǐsè hé lánsè hái méi yòng wán ya, wǒ bù juéde zhè liǎng ge
(Man:) yánsè bú shìhé chūntiān.
(You’ve still got your purples and blues; I don’t think those two colors
are out of place in spring.)
女: 唉呀，你不懂。
Nǚ: Āiya, nǐ bù dǒng.
(Woman:) (Oh, you just don’t get it.)
男: 我是真的不懂，可是我知道你要用我的礼券买你的东西。
Nán: Wǒ shì zhēnde bù dǒng, kěshì wǒ zhīdào nǐ yào yòng wǒ de lǐquàn mǎi
(Man:) nǐ dōngxi.
(I really don’t get it, but I do know that you plan on using my vouchers to
buy your stuff.)
女: 我知道你最好了，谢谢。
Nǚ: wǒ zhīdào nǐ zuì hǎo le, xièxie.
(Woman:) (I know you’re the best! Thanks!)
