INTRODUCTION:

Because we recognize the hazards caused by exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, it shall be the
policy of LESEDI to provide a smoke-free environment for all employees and visitors.

SCOPE:

This policy applies to all employees working for or on behalf of LESEDI Botswana.

OBJECTIVE:

The aim of this policy is to protect all employees, customers and visitors from exposure to second-hand
smoke and to comply with the Smoking policy. Both employers and employees have the responsibility to
adhere to this policy.

GENERAL:

Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire workplace with no exceptions. However, a smoking area
will be provided externally (employees will be made aware of it) for those who wish to smoke. The
following responsibilities have been placed on employers and employees regarding this matter;

EMPLOYER DUTIES

• To ensure employees, customers and visitors do not smoke in smoke-free places and
vehicles.
• To investigate complaints regarding employees, customers and visitors smoking.
• To inform, consult and train employees on this policy.

EMPLOYEES DUTIES

• To ensure that they or others do not interfere with no smoking signs.

• To comply with the Smoke-Free Policy.
• To ensure customers and visitors do not smoke in smoke-free places and vehicles.
• To report incidents of smoking in smoke-free areas and vehicles.
