Past Simple
A finished event or action in the past (specific time)

Past continuous
We use P.C to describe the background events in a narrative
We also use to describe an action that was in progress when a completed action happened
We often use ´when´ and ´while´ to connect past events

We use the P.P to describe an action than happened before another action in the past

Things that we have arranged for the future. We usually specify when or where the event will take
place
- I´m meeting Sarah at the cinema at 8.30 pm
We usually use the present continuous to ask people about their plans
- Are you doing anything tomorrow afternoon?
Be Going To
We use ´be going to´ to talk about future plans and intentions
- I´m going to phone my mother tonight.
- when are you going to buy a new car?
The ´present continuous´ an ´be going to´ have a similar meaning, but the present continuous emphasizes
that you have made the arrangements and be going to emphasizes that you have made a decision
- we´re going to New York next summer! = we´ve bought our tickets. It´s organized (P.C)
- we´re going to go New York next summer! = we´ve made the decision, but we might not have the tickets yet. It
might not be organized (be going to)
