8.3.2 Soot cleaning

After a certain time in operation , soot deposits are accumulated inside the boiler. The
frequency of soot cleaning varies from one boiler to another and cannot be specified exactly,
depending on factors such as oil quality, boiler load and how the burner is adjusted .
However, the following applies :
There are 5 methods to check if soot cleaning is necessary:
1 in the course of inspection.
2 Checking the exhaust gas tenıperature of the oil fireci part.
(Clean if 15 °C above figure fora clean boiler.)
3 Checking the draught loss of the oil fireci part.
(Clean if 15 mm WG above figure fora clean boiler.)
4 For exhaust gas part: Checking whether L'ı t < 1O % from the initi al value.
(lf yes, clean from soots.)
5 For exhaust gas part: Checking wnether L'ı p > 1O % from nominal value .
(lf yes, clean from soots.)

The most effective way of soot cleaning is tube brushing (see below) .
