Q.1) State the word equation for aerobic respiration.

Ans- Glucose + Oxygen Carbon dioxide + Water vapour + ATP

Q.2) Use the equation for aerobic respiration to explain why the air that you breathe out contains
more carbon dioxide than the air that you breathe in.

Ans – The exhaled air contains more carbon dioxide because the carbon dioxide produced during
respiration is removed out of the body as the exhaled air during the process of respiration.

Q.3) Describe how the red blood cells transport oxygen to all the cells in the body?

Ans- The haemoglobin helps the red blood cells to transport oxygen. Inside the red blood cell, the
oxygen combines with haemoglobin and forms oxyhaemoglobin. As the blood continues its journey
around the body, it passes oxygen to the cells that are respiring. The oxyhaemoglobin lets go of its
oxygen and gives it to the cells.

Ans - The process where white blood cells surround, engulf, and destroy foreign substances is

called phagocytosis, and the cells are collectively referred to as phagocytes.

Q.6) Name three things that are transported in blood plasma.

Ans - Water, salts, glucose, etc.
