"PLANNING VACATIONS TO BRAZIL"

Dialogue: Planning vacations to Brazil

Susana: Hi dear ,How was school today?

Blas: Hi mom,it was ok thanks
Susana: I have a surprise for you ,you know your vacations are going to be soon,so
I was thinking we can take a tour to Brazil,What do yu think?
Blas: Mom it would be fantastic,we can go to Maracana Stadium ,you know it is a
dream for me.
Susana: Yes of course.Yesterday I phoned the travel agency and there is a fantastic
tour to visit Brazil,the tour takes 2 weeks all inclusive, plane tickets,hotel,food,etc.
Blas: Really, you have to make reservations soon,remember last vacations we
couldn’t travel to Disney World because we didn’t book on time.
Susana:Don’t worry dear ,I will do it tomorrow, I am going to get up early and I will
go to the travel agency,you can come with me if you want,tomorrow is saturday and
you have not classes.
Blas : Ok mom we will go together.
Susana: Yesterday when I went to the travel agency they gave me some information
about the tour, the flight from Santiago to Rio de Janeiro takes about 4 hours ,we
must be 2 hours before the departure time to make all the arrangements.
Blas : How many suitcases should we take?
Susana: It depends on the weather and nowadays is summer in Brazil ,so we have
to take summer clothes ,it is very hot in Rio de Janeiro and we can swim in the sea.
Blas: We have to take our swimming suits then,I have heard Rio has beautiful
beaches ,and also that brazilian people are very nice and friendly.
Susana: Yes,Rio de Janeiro is visited for thousand of tourists every year,especially
europeans like French,Italian,Spanish,English and also Latin americans like us.
Blas: I would like to surf there ,there are fantastic waves in Rio.
Susana: Yes ,you can surf but you must be very careful.
Blas: And you mom can sunbathe in the beach too!
Susana:We can also try local food, I can’t wait to eat Feijoada , I think it must be
delicious.
Blas: I would like to sightseeing the city and visit the Maracana Stadium and
perhaps if we can see a football match, it would be great.
Susana: Would you like to visit The Christ Redeemer ? It represents the image of
Jesus Christ with open arms showing Rio Janeiro city to the world, it’s beautiful.
Blas: We must go to visit La Escalera de Selarón, it is typical for all tourists to go
there and takes pictures.
Susana: I'd ike to visit "the favelas" also because there you can see the real
brazilian culture,remember all countries has their contrasts and I think it's good to
know both sides of the coin.
Blas: Ok mom ,but we have to be very careful,because i have heard favelas are
dangerous especially for tourists .
Susana: Yes we must be careful because there is a lot of delinquency in favelas.
Blas: OK mom,what else would we visit ??
Susana: I think should book the tour first,dear!
Blas: Yes, you're right ,Let's do it tomorrow.
