Hue Hotels and Resorts Puerto Princesa, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan- Organized by USAID-FishRight, the
Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)- South
participated in a training-workshop on Mapping Coastal Habitats using Satellite Imagery, from August 21-23,
which will be instrumental in PCSDS’s mapping via ECAN Zoning, marine and terrestrial delineation, marine
habitat and land cover change analysis through time series change assessment, monitoring of projects and
developments processes, among others, in Palawan.

Participated by different government and public organizations here, the event provided an avenue for the
training of researchers and environmental conservation planners and practitioners in Palawan, for them to learn
more about the core knowledge and application of satellite imagery in monitoring the Philippines coasts through
basic remote-sensing theories, imagery processing, calibration, validation, and time-series change assessment
with Google Earth Engine.

Notable personalities who graced the event were Mr. David Lagomasino, East Carolina, USAID Fish Right
Program; Mr. J.P. Walsh, Director, Coastal Resources Center, University of Rhode Island, USAID Fish Right
Program; and Mr. Nygiel B. Armada, Chief of Party, USAID Fish Right Program, University of Rhode Island.

It was also attended by representatives from Western Philippines University (WPU), UP-Marine Science
Institute, UP Department of Geodetic Engineering and Training Center of Applied Geodesy and
Photogrammetry, UP Los Baños, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, City Government of Puerto
Princesa, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Philippine Space Agency, University of Rhode Island,
and PATH Foundation Philippines, Inc.

(Hue Hotels and Resorts Puerto Princesa, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan- Lumahok ang Palawan Council for
Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) District Management Division (DMD)- South sa isang pagsasanay
(training-workshop) tungkol sa Mapping Coastal Habitats using Satellite Imagery, mula ika-21 hanggang ika-23
ng Agosto, na makatutulong sa pagma-mapa ng ahensiya (PCSD) gamit ang ECAN; ilan sa mga ito ang
marine and terrestrial delineation, pagbabago sa lupain at katubigan ng Palawan gamit ang time series change
assessment, monitoring of projects and developments processes sa Palawan. Ito ay pinasinayaan ng USAID-
FishRight.

Program; G. J.P. Walsh, Direktor, Coastal Resources Center, University of Rhode Island, USAID Fish Right
Program; and G. Nygiel B. Armada, Chief of Party, USAID Fish Right Program, University of Rhode Island.

Dinaluhan din ito ng mga representante mula sa Western Philippines University (WPU), UP-Marine Science
Institute, UP Department of Geodetic Engineering and Training Center of Applied Geodesy and
