Wednesday, 23 June 2021 11:49 am

Topic: Free fall Where:

➢ Free falling object - falling object under the sole property of gravity. • Vf = Final velocity
• V0 = Initial velocity
• a = Acceleration
• Y = Altitude
• Y0 = Initial altitude = 0
• g = gravitational acceleration
(9.8m/s^2, other equivalent)

Important concepts
a. Acceleration of object in free fall = +9.81 m/s^2
- -9.81 m/s^2 = upward direction
b. When an object is simply dropped, its Initial Velocity (V0) = 0
c. Velocity of an object at the peak of its trajectory (when thrown upwards) is 0 (zero)
d. An object projected upwards in a perfectly vertical direction ----> velocity (with opposite sign)= magnitude
