Housekeeping
Work benches or work areas must be kept orderly and clean.

Tools in boxes should be kept properly arranged for easy and safe selection and items should be
covered or protected if they can cause harm (such as blades and cutting tools)

Rags, scrap paper, rubbish, cut offs, old ropes and other items that can block a walkway, are not
only unsightly but can also cause a fire hazard and a tripping hazard in the area

Workbenches and designated work areas should be in line with or against the building walls and
free of scrap, out of access ways and clear of entrances

Tools that are properly arranged on the bench, in the store or in the toolbox make a better
appearance and make work easier because you can find what you need much quicker.

Good housekeeping eliminates incidents on sites.

It eliminates mistakes that endanger lives

Good housekeeping carries workers safely through their shift without conditions that cause
accidents.

Housekeeping eliminates waste of time and makes the job easier.

Remember, There is a place for everything and everything must be in its place.
