CHAPTER I

PRELIMINARY

1.1 Background

Tenses are important in English language education. And also a rule in English. If
someone wants to master English well, then he must be able to master tenses well.
Among the forms of tenses, the present perfect tense will be discussed in our paper.

1.2 Formulation Of The Problem

1. What is the present perfect tense?


2. What is the function of the present perfect tense?
3. What is the formula for the present perfect tense?

1.3 Purpose

From the identification of the problem above, the author certainly aims to
explainor explain these points, according to the knowledge we have obtained, both
from source books and from our teachers. And fulfill the task of English literature
subjects. Hopefully all of them will benefit us.

DISCUSSION

2.1 Present Perfect Definition

Present perfect tense is a form of verb used to express an action or situation that
started in the past and is still continuing until now or has been completed at a
certain point in time in the past but the effect is still ongoing. This tense is usually
used to talk about experiences or changes that involve a place.

2.2 Present Perfect Function

1. Expressing an event which after it happened/has been done, then when the
conversation took place, there was a perceived consequence.
2. Talking about experiences but not specifically.
3. Repeated action in an indefinite period of time between past and present
4. Expressing something that happened since a time in the past which is still related
to the present (when the conversation took place).
5. Disclosing activities that have been carried out, but have not been completed to
date.
6. Telling something that is not important enough or conveying a
question/statement that the answer is not known.
7. Indicates a change.

CLOSING

3.1 Conclusion

Present Perfect Tense (time finished now) which is used to express actions, events
that occurred at the end and still exist with now or to show an event that was
completed in a short time.

3.2 Suggestion

From the study that has been done, it is hoped that we will understand more about
tenses in English in this case "Present Perfect Tense", because in English there are
rules in the learning process, especially pronunciation.
Readers and writers want to involve themselves in the application of English in
everyday life because English is an international language.
