THE IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON LOCAL CULTURES
Have you ever known that the Filipinos in the past had their own way of writing,
cooking, and even their own alphabet? Our ancestors had their own way of living in the
past; we have a traditional way of cooking; we are cooking in a pot called a palayok. We
also have our own writing system and alphabet from the past; it is called baybayin. In fact,
our ancestors wrote their words on stone, leaves, and even trees to convey their message.
Those things change when foreigners come to our country, and they bring big changes to
our norms. When the time goes by, many things happen to our lives, and every year there
are changes to our community and innovations in things around us. All of those changes
countries and people around the world. It is the way to exchange goods, information, ideas,
and even culture around the globe. Our country is one of the countries that receives a big
technology, the flow of the economy, and even socialization in different countries. On the
bright side, globalization has a positive impact on our country; it helps us grow and make

because of the fast exchanging of ideas among different countries, which can affect the
local culture of one country. The adaptation of culture from other countries has the
possibility of making us forget our own identity, which is really happening in the present
time. Another negative aspect of it is that the environment changes in particular places. For
example, in our country, before we were one of the green countries around the world, but
because of globalization, where we are exporting investors from another country, we need
to give them space to establish their buildings, so we need to destroy our nature. If we
cannot manage our own resources, it can lead to environmental degradation, and if it

and environment as well. It helps us innovate, help our economy grow, and establish
