PENDAHULUAN
A. BACKGROUND
English studied in schools consists of four skills of the language that must be mastered by
students, namely listening skills, speaking, reading and writing. This is in line with the Level
Curriculum Education Unit (KTSP) 2006; there are four language skills that must be
mastered by students, namely, listening, speaking, reading, and writing (BSNP, 2006:318).

Writing skill is one of the language skills that plays an important role in learning English
and must be mastered by each student. The main function of writing is as a communication
tool of indirect relationship between writer and reader. So that students have
understanding and writing skills, a plan is needed for a proper and planned writing study
with an effective approach.

The basic competencies of Announcement Text are as follows; write announcements in

good and correct language and pay attention to spelling uses. This announcement material
is very important to be mastered by students as a form of communication media to reveal
and obtain information. After reading an Announcement Text and understand it, we are
required to be able to retransmit the information to others using own language with
sentences that are easily understood by various speakers.

B. FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM

Based on the background of the above problems, the problems presented in this paper are:

As for the results of writing this paper, it is hoped that it can provide benefits, namely being
able to provide information and increase knowledge for readers even more about the
Announcement Text itself.

BAB II
PEMBAHASAN

A. DEFINITION
Announcement text is a written statement about information that aims to be known by the
public or the general public. The text should be short and explain what, when, where, and
who. Sometimes it also explains why and how.

There are two tenses that are often used in making announcement texts, namely Simple
Present Tense and Simple Future Tense. Why? Because the announcement must have been
made long before the event took place.

Generally, there are several things that can be used as an announcement text topic,
including:

 Event
 Missing person
 Competition winner
 Job vacancy
 Obituary
 Wedding
 New product advertisement
 Appeal from the government

B. FUNCTIONAL
“The purpose is to publish information about an event, job vacancies, new enrollment, new
admissions, and so on”. The purpose of the announcement text is to provide information
about an event, job vacancies, new student admissions, new student admissions, and so on
by providing formal information to the general public or certain communities (To give a
formal written notice of certain events).

C. GENERIC STRUCTURE
 Title
The title is the part of the announcement text that you should not skip. Titles are
useful for attracting the attention of your audience so that they read the entire
announcement that you make. You can create a title according to the information
you want to provide. For example, if you want to create a job vacancy for a fresh
graduate, your title can be "Jobs for Fresh Graduates".
 Explanation
The location of the announcement text information that you want to convey is in
this section. Explanation explains in detail the title you have given. Usually an
explanation consists of several parts, including:
1. Type of activity (type of event)
2. Date and time (date and time)
3. Place
4. Participants (participants)
5. Address (address)

D. CHARACTERISTICS

A. CONCLUSION
Based on the explanation above, it can be concluded that Announcement text is a written
statement about information that aims to be known by the public or the general public. The
text should be short and explain what, when, where, and who.

B. SUGGESTION
The author feels that what has been made is still far from perfect. For this reason, criticism
and suggestions from all readers are highly anticipated by the author.

The author will accept criticism, suggestions and input for consideration in the future. The
author hopes to make a better paper than today.
