To start off our agenda for today, I
will be showing pictures that you have
to observe. Are you ready, class?

Good! Yes, Ma’am.

Let’s get started, here are the pictures.

1.

2.
3.

4.

Who would like to share his/her

observation?
Yes, (name of student)?
The pictures are all related to Basketball.
Very good!

Any other idea? Yes, (name of

student)?
Ball, Court, Referee, and Basketball Players
which are all seen in basketball play. I
remember Ma’am, that was our lesson last
time.
That is correct!

So, these pictures are all familiar to

you and you know their definitions
since we have talked about them last
meeting, is that right?
Yes, Ma’am.
Okay, good thing you do not forget
our lessons.

Now we proceed to a video which you

will also be observing. Ready?
Yes, Ma’am.
(The teacher will play the video
which is related to Basketball)

Okay, did you watch it carefully?

Yes, Ma’am.
All right.

That video is your clue to find our

topic in this word maze.

L L A B T E K S A B

A A N A U H Q I W E
S R V C O B P K F A
S R L G E A R U U K

What do you think is our topic for

today? Yes, (name of student)?
Basketball, Ma’am.
That was our topic last time, isn’t it?
Yes, Ma’am.
Any other idea?
Yes, (name of student)?
Ma’am, I can see the words basketball and
pass (Basketball Pass).
Good job!

After talking about the Basketball, its

history and facilities and equipment,
also the officiating officials, we are
now going to tackle about one of its
basic skills which is PASSING
(BASKETBALL PASS).

C. Presentation
Class, what is your idea about
Basketball Pass? Yes, (name of
student)?
It is the way of a player to transfer the ball to
his teammate.
Very good!

Any other idea, class? Yes, (name of

student)?
Throwing the ball to your teammate, they
should be able to catch it.
Good!

So now, let us proceed to the different

basketball pass.
The first one is CHEST PASS.

Do you have any idea on how to

execute the Chest Pass? Anyone?
Yes, (name of student)?
It is a pass from the chest level of the player
towards his teammate.
Good answer!

Any other idea? Yes, (name of

student)?
It is a quick pass that needs to be executed
also with a follow through.
Very good!

Will you please read the definition,

yes (name of student).
The Chest Pass is named so because the pass
originates from the chest. It is thrown by
gripping the ball on the sides with the thumbs
directly behind the ball. When the pass is
thrown, the fingers are rotated behind the ball
and the thumb are turned down. The resulting
follow through has the back of the hands
facing one another with the thumbs straight
down. The ball should have a nice back spin.
Thank you!

So now class, I am going to do the

Chest Pass and you are going to repeat
what I did. Understood?
Yes, Ma’am.
(The teacher will execute the Chest
Pass)
(The students will do the Chest Pass)
Did you get it, class? Shall we proceed
to the next basketball pass?
Yes, Ma’am.
Okay, so let us now talk about the
BOUNCE PASS.
Any idea? Yes, (name of student)?
Bounce pass is also a quick pass wherein the
player throws the ball towards the floor going
to his teammate.
Very good!

Will you please read its definition, yes

(name of student).
The Bounce Pass is thrown with the same
motion however, it is aimed at the floor. It
should be thrown far enough out that the ball
bounces waist high to the receiver. Some say
try to throw it ¾ of the way to the receiver,
and that may be a good reference point to
start, but each player must experiment how
far to throw it, so it bounces to the receiver
properly. Putting a proper and consistent
backspin on the pass will make the distance
easier to judge.
Thank you very much!

Here is how the Bounce Pass is done,

class.

(The teacher will execute the Bounce

Pass) (The students will do the Bounce Pass)

Did you get it, class?

Yes, Ma’am.
Next, we have the OVERHEAD
PASS.
What is Overhead Pass? How is it
executed? Yes, (name of student)?
It is when the player throws the ball with both
hands starting from behind the head and
releasing the ball out front.
That is correct!

Now, kindly read the definition, yes

(name of student).
The Overhead Pass is often used as an outlet
pass. Bring the ball directly above your
forehead with both hands on the side of the
ball and follow through. Aim for the
teammate’s chin. Some coaches advise not to
bring the ball behind your head because it can
get stolen, and it takes a split-second longer to
throw the pass.
Thank you!

Okay, this is how the Overhead Pass is

being executed, class.

(The teacher will execute the

Overhead Pass)
(The students will do the Overhead Pass)
Can you still follow, class?
Yes, Ma’am.
We are now on the last basketball
pass; we have the WRAP AROUND
PASS.

Anyone who can tell the class, what is

this Wrap Around Pass?

This pass will allow you to protect the ball

from a defender who's getting too close, by
passing the ball under their arm.
Very good idea!

Please read, (name of student).

Step around the defense with your non-pivot
foot. Pass the ball with one hand (outside
hand). It can be used as an air or a bounce
pass. You will often see the wrap around, air
pass on the perimeter and the wrap around,
bounce pass to make an entry into the post.
Thank you for that.

Class, this how you do the Wrap

Around Pass.

(The teacher will execute the Wrap

Around Pass) (The students will do the Wrap Around Pass)

Is everything clear, class?

Yes, Ma’am.
That’s good!

Before we proceed, can someone

enumerate the basketball passes we
have discussed?

Yes, (name of student)?

1. Chest Pass
2. Bounce Pass
3. Overhead Pass
4. Wrap Around Pass
Good job!

D. Application
Let me check if everyone listened and
learned from our discussion, class.
I am going to mention the basketball
pass and all of you will execute the
said basketball pass. I am going to
observe you if you are doing the right
movement. Okay?
Yes, Ma’am.

Pass)

IV. Evaluation
I believe you are now ready for a
performance task. Am I correct?

Yes, Ma’am.
Class, I am going to group you into 5
groups having 8 members. Each
group is given 5 minutes to practice
together the different basketball pass.
I will be grading you by group and
individually. Are you ready?
Yes, Ma’am.
Okay, start your practice. Your 5
minutes starts now.
(The students will practice per group)
Class, the time is up!

Let us proceed to the performance of

each group.
(The students will perform)
(The teacher will grade them with the
use of a rubric)

Everyone, give yourselves a round of

applause for a very good performance.
(The students will clap for themselves for a
job well done in their basketball pass
performance)
(The teacher will announce their group
grade but not the individual scores of
the students)

V. Assignment
Class, for your assignment, you
should master the basketball passes that
we have discussed today. Next meeting,
we will be playing basketball. I will be
observing you while in play if you can
execute properly the different basketball
passes (chest pass, bounce pass, overhead
pass, and wrap around pass). Understood?
Yes, Ma’am.

Well done for today, class! I hope you are

always like that, very active and
participative.

Did you enjoy and learn something?

Yes, we enjoyed and learned a lot, Ma’am.

Let us have our closing prayer.

Please lead, (name of student).
(The students will have the closing prayer)
