• Cigarettes is a slender roll of cut
tobacco enclosed in paper.
• the main ingredient in making
cigarettes is tobacco.
TOBACCO
• Tobacco is a tall, leafy plant that grows in
South and Central America. The chemical
in tobacco that can harm people are
carcinogens and nicotine.
• Tobacco contains 4,000 different chemicals. 43 of
these chemicals are known “carcinogens”.
• Nicotine is an addictive drug, which is a
poisonous stimulant.
3 TYPES OF SMOKES
1) Mainstream smoke- Tobacco smoke that is
exhaled by smokers.
2) Side stream smoke- Sidestream smoke is
smoke which goes into the air directly from a
burning cigarette, cigar, or smoking pipe.
3) Third-hand smoke- Thirdhand smoke poses a
potential health hazard to nonsmokers —
especially children. Substances in thirdhand
smoke are known to be hazardous to health.
