First-time configuration of authentication method
Install Microsoft Authenticator app
On a smartphone or tablet
1. Go to the App store/Play Store and search for the
Microsoft Authenticator app
2. Select Install
3. Open the app and proceed to the next step

Go to the Microsoft Azure portal
On your PC
1. Go to Microsoft Azure portal to setup your authentication
method
2. Sign in with your Nokia email and network password
3. Next you will be asked to setup your authentication method

Start the setup
3. Select Set it up now to start, you
will be forwarded to the Azure
portal
4. Select Mobile app from the drop-
down menu
5. Select Notification in the Method
section

On the Additional security verification page
1. Select either
a. Use verification code from app, if you have an
unstable internet connection on the device. This
method does not require an internet connection
b. Notify me through app, if you have a stable 1
internet connection on your device, since this
method requires internet connection to work Or

2. Make sure you have selected If you have a stable internet

connection on your device
a. Authentication phone (backup option) and a
phone number added (either a desk phone or a
smartphone)

b. Authentication app (primary method)
3. Click on Configure to start the configuration process

A screen with a QR code appears on your PC
4. On your smartphone, open the Microsoft
Authenticator app
5. On the accounts screen, select +, and then specify
that you want to add a work or school account
6. Scan the QR code with your device. If your camera is 66
not working properly, you can enter the QR code and
URL manually. The code and URL are visible right
under the QR code.
7. When the app on your device shows your account
name with a six-digit code underneath it, you are 8
done with the smartphone.
8. Select Next to close the QR code screen on your PC

Note:
You may be prompted to do a test verification to make My Nokia account
sure everything was configured correctly.

9. Click on Save to complete the configuration.
10. If the preferred verification method has been
changed, a verification window will appear.
Choose Verify preferred option
11. Approve with the Microsoft Authenticator app
(or enter the generated code).
12. A confirmation screen will appear on the PC.
Select Close 9

You have now successfully configured the Microsoft

Authenticator app as the preferred MFA option.
