Information
Introductory Message
This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st-century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

In this lesson, we will learn another skill that will be useful to your
journey in learning English. Distinguishing a relevant information to the
irrelevant ones will give you an edge once you become keen to the details or
information you encounter.

(I) Like many insects, ants have six legs. (II) An ant colony consists of the
queen ant, workers, soldiers and males. (III) They are very strong so they
can run very quickly. (IV) If a man could run as fast for his size as an ant
can, he could run as fast as a racehorse. (V) Although many ants are tiny
and only three millimeters long, they can lift 20 times their own body weight.

The text is about ants, but more importantly the specific details about
ants will tell us more about the text as whole. Looking closely at its details,
we may find an idea in it that seemed to be out of tune or out of topic.
