Reports!

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and


reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and


independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims
to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely:
Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while
taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

DepEd launches Deped Commons amid COVID-19 pandemic

Pasig City - The Department of Education (DepEd) has


started an online study platform called “DepEd Commons” to
help students continue their lessons in response to the
suspension of classes due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
pandemic last March 23.

The online platform, which can be accessed by public school


teachers, students and parents is expected to support remote
learning or distance learning modality.

DepEd stressed that online classes are given as an option


for those who have access to the internet and equipment such as
smartphones, tablets, laptops or desktop computers.

Those who do not have access to these requirements can


opt for paper-based homework.

Classes and all school activities in all levels in Luzon were
suspended from March 15 to October 4 amid the lockdown that
aims to restrict the movement of people to stop the COVID-19
outbreak.

Bamboo bike made in the Philippines

A bicycle made-up of bamboo also known as Bambike that


was developed in the Gawad Kalinga Village in Victoria, Tarlac
was creating its name around the world and have been gifted to
various global leaders, including Barack Obama early this year
2013.

The founder Bryan Benitez McClelland, born and raised in


the United States, who decided to launch a socio-ecological
enterprise that creates fair trade bamboo bicycles with
sustainable building practices. Bambuilders were proud for

creating eco-friendly and durable bike adding that Bambikes
have passed European Standards.

Creating a business focused on sustainable livelihood


development, and providing opportunities for people who need it
the most, McClelland believes that he can build sustainable
change and help break the cycle of poverty in the province.

Grade 4 pupil awards best in reading

A Grade Four pupil named Izza Gallego won Best in


Reading during the annual English Skills Competition held last
November 18 in ABC Elementary School, Pasig City.
The contest is open for Grades Four to Six selected pupils.
The adviser of the star section will choose one contestant which
will represent each grade level. Gallego had shown correct
pronunciation, proper speed in reading and good comprehension
during the contest.
“I love reading. It is my hobby. I also practice reading often
in front of the mirror and listen to my recorded voice.” Said
Gallego.

Activity 2
ABC celebrates nutrition month

ABC Elementary School observed the Nutrition Month


Celebration with the theme "Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na
Nutrisyon Aanihin" in the school gymnasium last August 3.
The highlight of the program was the coronation of
Binibini and Ginoong Alagad ng Kalusugan won by the
representatives from Grade six pupils. On the spot poster-making
contest, vegetable cooking festival, and characters on parade
were the activities for the weeklong celebration to promote
healthy foods and proper lifestyle among children.

Activity 3

MAES pupils receive school supplies

All pupils of Maybunga Annex Elementary School (MAES)


received free school supplies, bags and uniforms from the city
government of Pasig headed by Mayor Victor Ma Regis Sotto and
the city council on June 15, 2019 at the school covered court.
Elementary students received backpacks and trolley bags,
notebooks, school uniforms, leather shoes, rubber shoes, p.e.t-
shirt, jogging pants, raincoat, and socks.
The yearly school supplies distribution is a testament of the
City Government’s full support to all the young Pasigueños to
ensure that no child is left behind.

Rizal Elementary School celebrates Buwan ng Wika

It is a must for every Filipino child to know the importance of


using our native language. As a support to the government’s
efforts in enriching our cultural heritage, Rizal Elementary
School celebrated Buwan ng Wika with the theme “Wikang
Katutubo, Tungo sa Isang Bansang Pilipino,” at the school
covered court on August 31, 2019.
The program included the slogan and poster making contest
based on the given theme. The contest winners were awarded
during the program.
The school's celebration was ended while the pupils were
singing the song "Ako'y Isang Pinoy" by Florante.
