Individual Analysis

1. Phases: Our group spent most of the time in the forming phase of team
development. We were uncertain about how we are going to collaborate
to accomplish our common goal. However, we eventually moved on to
forming phase where we started to think about our individual roles in
the group activity. One group member took the initiative and emailed all
the group members to discuss the course that we were going to take to
successfully complete the group activity. In the norming phase, ideas
were being discussed in the group wiki page. Two group members
initially gave their proposed budget and others shared their thoughts in
the comment section to provide their input about the budget that was
created for the activity. In the starting, everyone was sceptical about the
group activity as nobody knew what we were supposed to do and how
we were supposed to use group wiki page to share our thoughts and
ideas. But somehow, we managed to complete the activity. Finally, we
moved into the performing stage. We gave our individual input by
sharing our views about the proposed budget and collaboratively made a
budget for the group activity. However, initiative was taken by two group
members to initiate the collaboration among the group members.
2. Roles: Unfortunately, our group lacked traits like teamwork. Only one
team member took the initiative to be a leader to complete the activity
successfully. Everyone else wasn’t sure about how they could take up
roles in the team to successfully complete the assigned activity. I
personally felt like people were hesitant to share their ideas and
thoughts in the group as we were complete strangers to each other and
in order to work together, we required a sense of belonging which was
absolutely absent while team development.
3. Reflection: Honestly, I think that I wasn’t a valuable member of the
team. I tried my best to share my opinions and ideas in the comment
section as I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to modify the already
formulated budget or if I had to type my budget in the group discussion
page. I tried to contribute in the process to best of my abilities. Moving
forward, I would collaborate with my team members on a more personal
level so that I won’t feel awkward or hesitant while sharing my
viewpoints in the group. If I had prior experience with group activities
like these, I would have contributed in the team development on a
better level.
