ALTERNATE COURSE PLAN FOR

PHILIPPIAN PASTORS – CERTIFICATE IN BIBLE

(Updated)Friday, June 9, 2023

Overview:
Southern Methodist College is offering to the Cobagan Community Bible Church the Certificate in Biblical
Studies.1 This program of study would provide a live instructor for each class session through Google
Classrooms. This is a different delivery system than the asynchronous classes found on the online
program of Southern Methodist College.

Southern Methodist College would use Google Classroom to provide a live instructor to group of
students in the Philippines. Students would be able to access class materials from Google Classrooms.
There will be times for students to ask questions and to interact with the instructor. Classes can be
recorded for those who miss the session to access.

Class Sessions:
Class sessions would meet weekly on the same day of the week for a two-hour-and-twenty-minute
session with a fifteen minute break in the middle.

I understand that there is a twelve (Day Light Savings Time) or thirteen (Standard Time) difference
between South Carolina and the Philippines. This would mean that the Philippine sessions could be
conducted on Saturdays, from about 8:00 AM to 10:20 AM.

Course Durations:
Each course would last eight weeks, and there would be a one to two-week break between courses. The
program would take two years to complete.

Local Proctors/Facilitators:
Southern Methodist College request that two individuals be selected by Cobagan Bible Christian Church
to ensure a place with adequate internet and video capabilities for the class. These individuals would
ensure that tests are proctored and submitted for grading. Tests would be taken in English. Completed
tests and assignments could be scanned and submitted electronically by the proctor.

Student Limit:
The program would be limited to only twelve students.

Financial Compensations:
Southern Methodist College is in a position to offer ministerial students substantial scholarships.
Students would be expected to pay the registration fee for each course which would be kept by the host
church to help defray the costs of providing a location, internet, and proctors/facilitators for the class.
