Modulation is the process of adding information to a carrier signal to transmit data over radio

waves. In radio frequency, modulation is used to convert data into radio waves by varying the
characteristics of a carrier signal. The carrier signal is usually a simple, single-frequency
sinusoid that varies in time like a sine wave. There are different types of modulation
techniques used in radio frequency, including:
Amplitude Modulation (AM): The height or strength of the signal carrier is varied to represent
the data being added to the signal.
Frequency Modulation (FM): The frequency of the carrier wave is altered in accordance with
the instantaneous amplitude of the modulating signal, keeping phase and amplitude
constant.
Phase Modulation (PM): The phase of the carrier wave is altered in accordance with the
instantaneous amplitude of the modulating signal, keeping frequency and amplitude
constant.
Frequency Modulation (FM) is a widely used modulation technique in radio frequency. It is
the encoding of information in a carrier wave by changing the instantaneous frequency of the
wave. FM technology is used in telecommunications, radio broadcasting, signal processing,
computing, telemetry, radar, seismic prospecting, and monitoring newborns for seizures via
EEG, among others
