CANDLES

RAW MATERIALS
 Paraffin wax – 97 parts
 Stearic acid 3 parts
 Thread – No. 10

EQUIPMENT
 Iron or aluminium vessel – small
 Iron or aluminium vessel – large
 Candle mould
 Gas or kerosene cooker

METHOD
1. String the No. 10 thread through the candle mould.
2. Place the paraffin wax and stearic acid in the small vessel.
3. Place the vessel coating the paraffin wax in the larger vessel and pour water between
the two vessels.
4. Heat the vessel so that direct heat does not reach the paraffin wax – stearic acid
mixture.
5. When the mixture melts and attains complete liquid state pour into the candle moulds.
6. After cooling, cut the thread and detach the candles from the moulds.

Burning time : 7 hours
