STORMING
TABLETOP BATTLEFIELDS
The Mercenaries Kickstarter launches on March 23, 2023,
live from AdeptiCon!
This Kickstarter will bring a slew of much-demanded units to our plastics ForcePack line.
More than three dozen ’Mechs will be included, alongside numerous vehicles for crafting
combined-arms games.

We found during the Clan Invasion Kickstarter that the community loved behind-
the-scenes looks at how we re-imagined fan-favorite
BattleMechs into fresh, modern miniatures. And we
want to offer that again. This time, we’re offering a
look at the new miniatures well before the Mercenaries
Kickstarter launches, as we are so much further along
on the project!

Each of the PDFs in this series walks you

through that re-imagining process. It starts,
of course, with Duane Loose’s amazing original
illustrations. We’ll show you our early, re-imagined
sketches, followed by the 3D renders of each unit, the final plastic
samples, and lastly the miniature, gloriously painted by the Camo
Specs team.

We hope you love this journey as much as we have, and we look

forward to joining you on launch day!

Both the Starslayer and Galleon Light Tank
will appear in the Mercenaries box set.
The Starslayer followed the same path as the Devastator, appearing in the McCarron’s
Armored Cavalry scenario pack, published in 1992, then getting a Duane Loose
treatment in Technical Readout: 3058, published in 1995.

The Galleon Light Tank appeared in the original Technical Readout: 3025. It went on
to be featured in numerous illustrations throughout the House books and scenario
packs. Having it grace the cover of the new Mercenaries box feels wonderfully apropos.
Duane’s take on the Starslayer was a great foundation off of which to build. In fact, it provided
several ways to proceed. Due to the unusual asymetrical look of the ’Mech, there were several
sketch iterations before we found the right path.
We pushed the Galleon hard, ensuring it would stack up to our
other tanks. But we wanted to retain the important elements;
you can see how we passed through numerous iterations of the
primary turret weapon, for example.
Through its asymetrical arms
and odd armor segments, the
Starslayer really shows off how
far afield you can go and still
remain firmly BattleTech.

It’s great how these line illustrations can
even make a light tank look menacing!

That asymetrical look we keep talking
about really shines in the plastic.
