ACTIVITY 2
LABORATROY MATERIALS

I. INTRODUCTION

The laboratory equipment allows students to actually perform experiments rather than
just read about them. Instead taking down notes, they can observe and complete exciting
experiments. Such hands-on learning often makes it easier to understand challenging theories
and concepts. As a result, students can become more engaged in the subject matter they are
studying and develop a deeper appreciation for the laboratory.

II. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the activity, the students shall be able to:

1. identify the different apparatus and equipment used for clinical microscopy,
2. discuss the functions of the instruments used in the clinical microscopy,
3. explain how to carry out a basic experiment utilizing common laboratory equipment, and
4. answer correctly the research questions.

III. MATERIALS

Coloring Materials Centrifuge Applicator sticks

Pen Refractometer Cover slips
Test tube Urine Analyzer Urine chem strips
Pasteur pipette Automatic Pipette Neubauer counting
Glass Slides Pipette tip chamber
Beaker Test tube rack Urinometer
Graduated Cylinder Hot plate
Test tube brush Water bath

IV. PROCEDURE

1. Identify the different materials used in the clinical microscopy section as presented by the
instructor.
2. Explain the function of each material in the clinical microscopy section.
3. Discuss the proper handling and storage of each material.
