These are factory assembly instructions to convert an ADTP1 to an ADCL1
machine.
Note: Before servicing or updating any of components below, be sure to turn off the
printer and unplug it from the power source.

Prepare Printer for Conversion
1. Turn off power to printer.
2. Open cover.

3. Remove front cover by
opening and pressing in
tab on left side.

4. Open print head
assembly and latch in
upright position.

Remove ADTP1 Parts
5. Remove stripper by
removing screw on
side by print head latch
handle then rotating
stripper out of
machine.

6. Remove 4 screws on
bottom plate holding
platen assembly in
place.
Rotate assembly to
clear gear from print
head yoke and pull out
as shown.

7. Remove gear from
shaft.

Install ADCL1 Parts
8. Install bearings
removed in step 7 on
shaft of new platen
roller.

9. Place plastic gear on
platen shaft removed
in step 7. Hub side
face out.
Slide assembly in
sheet metal housing by
pressing down on left
side of platen shaft
while keeping bearing
on right side of platen
shaft aligned with
counter bore of
bearing housing.
Ensure bearings fully
seat in bearing
housings.

10. Reposition platen
assembly by tipping
gear and platen shaft
under yoke assembly
and position as shown.
Replace 4 screws
removed in step 6.

11. Reinstall print head
removed in step 4.

12. Install aux roller
assembly by sliding
tabs in slot on left of
platen assembly.
Rotate assembly in
position and insert
screws with external
tooth lock washers.

13. Adjust gear lash by
loosening two screws
on right side of aux
roller drive.
Retighten screws.

14. Assemble new front
cover by reversing
removal procedure in
step 3.
15. Assemble new front cover to top cover by reversing procedure in step 3.
