Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management
TMPE 305 – Ecotourism
1st Semester, AY 2021-2022

National Goal : The attainment of globally competitive Filipinos through quality and excellent education, relevant and responsive to changing environment,

Vision : A high quality corporate science and technology university.

 produce S and T leaders and competitive professionals;
 generate breakthrough research in S and T –based disciplines;
 transform and improve the quality of life in the communities in the service areas;
 be self-sufficient and financially viable.

B. Common to the general field of Hospitality and Tourism


A graduate of a hospitality and tourism management degree should be able:

a. Demonstrate knowledge of tourism industry, local tourism products and services.


b. Interpret and apply relevant laws related to tourism industry.
c. Observe and perform risk mitigation activities.
d. Utilize information technology applications for tourism and hospitality.
e. Manage and market a service-oriented business organization.
f. Prepare and monitor industry specific financial transaction and reports.
g. Perform human capital development functions of tourism orientated organizations.
h. Utilize various communication channels proficiently in dealing with guests and colleagues.

C. Specific to a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management

A graduate of BS in Tourism Management should be able to but not limited to:

i. Create and deliver brand new tourism experiences and high quality, visitor-focused tourism products
j. Plan, implement and monitor tours and sales
k. Research, plan and conduct various tour guiding activities
l. Develop appropriate marketing program and arrange the required travel services
m. Plan, organize, implement and evaluate MICE activities
n. Conduct research on the impacts of tourism.
o. Plan, develop and evaluate tourism sites and attractions
p. Partnership with local community in tourism planning & development
q. Take roles in promoting ecotourism, socio economic activities thus minimizing the negative effects of tourism to visitors & hosts
r. Operate a travel & tour and other allied business venture

COURSE NAME Legal Aspects in Tourism and Hospitality


Course Description This course presents an overview of ecotourism as a form of sustainable development; discusses the principles and goals of
ecotourism development. This subject also covers discussions on ecotourism planning and development process, including the
institutional and legal frameworks for ecotourism, the need for collaborative planning and assessment criteria for ecotourism from a
broad perspective with focus on ecotourism market segments and best practices.
