Mayonnaise -Infused Aleo Vera: A Nourishing Alternative to

Traditional Hair Creams for Strengthening and Conditioning Hair

Many people, especially those with dull, frizzy, and dry hair, use regular conditioner to
strengthen and smoothen their hair. However, some products may not be good for their hair, as some
products contain lots of chemicals and can be expensive. The purpose of this study was to determine
the level of effectiveness of regular conditioner and mayonnaise infused with aloe vera conditioner and
whether there is a significant difference or not between using regular conditioner and mayonnaise
infused with aloe vera conditioner. A systematic sampling technique was used in this study. The
population was composed of ten (10) subjects for regular conditioner and ten (10) subjects for
mayonnaise infused with aloe-vera conditioner. The results stated that the subjects were satisfied with
the effectiveness of regular conditioner and mayonnaise infused with aloe vera conditioner and that
there was a significant difference between the two. It means that mayonnaise infused with aloe vera
conditioner is effective and can be used as an alternative to regular conditioner.

of our bodies. Having beautiful and healthy-
looking hair can give us a lot of benefits in
terms of our physical appearance, as it can
boost our self-confidence. As time goes by, our
hair may undergo some damage. All the
products we use to wash our hair or color our
hair contain things like sulfates, parabens,

This study would like to explore one of the
potential ingredients, mayonnaise.
According to Milligan (2019),
Mayonnaise has an ingredient that uses olive
oil and proteins that is good for dry and
damaged hair. There is a high amount of

protein in mayonnaise that helps to
strengthen, thicken, and moisturize one’s hair.
If we use mayonnaise on our hair, there's a
possibility that our hair will get oily and bring
back the shine of our damaged hair, but the
only disadvantage of this method is that there
will be a smell from the mayonnaise during and
after the method. That's why we need to check
first if our hair is naturally oily or dry, because
if we just apply it without knowing, instead of
helping ourselves to improve, we will just
degrade the quality of our hair. Using it will
take a few weeks before we see the results
because it will not happen overnight.
This study aims to determine the
effects of aloe vera-infused mayonnaise on dry
and damaged hair. Can it be an alternative
product for damaged hair? Can this method
help us save money? What are the benefits of
mayonnaise for our hair? These are the
questions that we are going to focus on in this
study.
Methodology
The methodology presents how the
researchers collect data and information in the
study of whether mayonnaise with an aloe vera
is an effective product that helps make hair
smoother. This chapter discusses and describes
the research locale, the instruments of the
study, and the data gathering procedure.

Participants
The subject for this study were random people,
male or female, with age ranges to 15 to 20.
There are 20 subjects that is divided into two

and the uncontrolled group will continue in
their daily hair routine. They have compared

it affected various hair problems, researchers
planned to use a pretest-posttest strategy to

application of homemade mayonnaise. The
results of the effects that could occur at the
various forms of hair problems will be provided
by the pretest-posttest design.
Procedure
After the validation of instrument, the
researchers then distribute the product for the
subjects who belongs to uncontrolled group.

Materials requirement

sunflower oil. The aloe vera with mayonnaise

ingredients that it contains. Sunflower oil will
be utilized to even the odor of the mayonnaise.

refrigerator and not leave in room temperature
Laboratory Experiment
Making this from scratch may seem
intimidating, but it's actually quite simple. In
this part, we will discuss the steps involved in
making aloe vera-infused mayonnaise.
Step 1: Gather the Ingredients
The first step in making mayonnaise is to
gather all the ingredients. You will need the
following:
• 2 egg yolks
• 3 tablespoons of white wine vinegar or
lemon juice
• 2 cups of canola oil
• 2 cups of aloe vera
• 3 tablespoons of sunflower oil

Step 2: Combine the Egg Yolk, and Vinegar
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolk,
and white wine vinegar. Make sure the
ingredients are well combined.
Step 3: Gradually Add the Oil
Slowly pour the oil into the egg yolk mixture
while whisking continuously or blending it
using an electric blender. It's important to add
the oil gradually, a few drops at a time, to
ensure that the mixture emulsifies properly. As
you add the oil, you'll notice the mixture
starting to thicken.
Step 4: Whisk or Blend Until Thick

becomes thick and creamy. This should take
about 5-10 minutes. You can observe that the
mayonnaise would be thick.
Step 5: Add the Aloe vera and Sunflower Oil
As the mayonnaise has already thickened, you
will now add the remaining key ingredients

thickened mayonnaise that was said before
was already balanced due to the aloe vera.

into four parts namely, the

and normal conditioner to the hair, the
effectiveness of Mayonnaise with Aloe-vera
based conditioner and normal conditioner in
hair’s appearance, texture, and aroma.

extensively studied. However, each of these
ingredients has individual benefits for hair,
and combining them could potentially enhance
their effects.

The mayonnaise-infused aloe vera was

effective due to its ingredients that is rich with
vitamins and oils that will benefit the hair. As
it shows In table 1.1, the weighted mean of
effectiveness of normal conditioner ranges from
3-3.3, where the statement “Effectiveness” has
the lowest weighted mean with a mean of 3,
which shows that the subjects who use normal
conditioner are moderately satisfied with their
hair appearance compared to the subjects who
used mayonnaise-infused aloe vera. And the
statement “Level of satisfaction after using the
product” has the highest weighted mean with a
mean of 3.3. Which indicates that the subjects
are likely to be moderately satisfied to their
regular conditioner.

oil. Vinegar and oil can assist in balancing the
pH of the scalp and reducing hair oiliness. The
oiliness of the hair is one of the causes of
dandruff and using mayonnaise as a hair mask
helps unclog follicles, which can help prevent
dandruff. Fourth, it can get rid of lice.
Mayonnaise may both suffocate and kill lice.
In table 2, the weighted mean ranges
from 3.5 – 3.7, where the statement “The hair

which show the satisfaction of the subjects on
the product and this is because Sunflower oil is
a rich source of vitamin E, which is essential
for hair growth and helps prevent hair loss. It
also contains oleic acid, which can penetrate
the hair shaft and help moisturize the hair,
while the statement “The hair becomes shiny”
has the highest weighted mean with a mean of
3.7. because aloe vera contains proteolytic
enzymes that can repair dead skin cells on the
scalp. This result tells that majority of the

In table 2.1, the weighted mean ranges
from 2.5 - 3, where the statement “The hair
becomes shiny” has the lowest weighted mean
with a mean of 2.7, while the statement “The
hair becomes silky” has the highest weighted
mean with a mean of 3. This result tells that
majority of the subjects were moderately
satisfied with the appearance of Normal
Conditioner. This is because without the
bonding, the conditioners fail to provide
moisture and strengthen to the hair the
conditioner on the scalp can flatten the hair
and make the roots greasier. Hair that has
been over conditioned or improperly rinsed can
become lifeless, dull, and brittle.
In table 3, both statements have the same
weighted mean with a mean of 3.5, which
clearly indicates that the subjects were greatly
satisfied with the effects of Mayonnaise with
Aloe-vera based conditioner to hair’s texture.
This is because mayonnaise can be utilized as
hair mask and a good alternative for

often associated with adding moisture and
