• External occipital protuberance → a prominent midline projection on the posterior
surface of the occipital bone (superior to the foramen magnum).

between skull bones that are not yet fully ossified in the
fetus and infant. They allow for skull flexibility during

• an irregularly shaped bone of the skull
• form the prominences of the cheeks and part of the lateral wall and floor of each

with the zygomatic process of the temporal bone to form the zygomatic arch
