>Encourage pt not to take any OTC drugs without consulting the doctor.

1. MEDICATIONS >Encourage pt to continue taking medications prescribed by the physician, following the right time, right dose and right
route as indicated by the physician.

>Encourage patient to continue the medications prescribed even signs and symptoms subside not until to the date
ordered by the physician.

>Instruct patient and SOs to report to physician to appropriate personnel if adverse reactions occur.

>Encourage patient to take the medications religiously.

>Encourage the pt to choose an aerobic activity such as walking, swimming, light jogging, or biking it can help of his heart
use oxygen better and improves blood flow. Do this at least 3 to 4 times a week.
2. EXERCISE
>Encourage pt to do weight training to help build muscle mass and burn fat because building the other muscles in our
body will help in our heart.

>Encourage pt to always do 5 minutes of stretching or moving around to warm up your muscles and heart before
exercising. Allow time to cool down after you exercise. Do the same activity but at a slower pace.

>Encourage the pt to take rest periods before you get too tired. If you feel tired or have any heart symptoms, stop. Wear
comfortable clothing for the exercise you are doing.

>Encourage pt during hot weather, exercise in the morning or evening. Be careful not to wear too many layers of
clothes. You can also go to an indoor shopping mall to walk.

>Remind pt to have adequate rest and sleep to prevent fatigue.


>Encourage pt to maintain adequate intake of fluids to promote hydration and prevent constipation.

3. DIET >Encourage pt to eat high-caloric foods to have sufficient amount of energy.

>Encourage pt to increase intake of foods rich in Vit. C such as fruits and vegetables to boast immune system.

>Encourage pt to increase intake of foods rich in potassium.

>Instruct pt to observe low salt diet to prevent or minimize edema in eating.

>Instruct patient not to eat or drink anything when there’s dyspnea or difficulty or breathing until subsides to prevent
aspiration.

>Instruct pt to limit oral fluid intake to less than 1 liter/ day

>Encourage pt to maintain personal hygiene daily to prevent infection.

4. HEALTH >Instruct pt that they need advice from a physical therapist or trainer. They can show you how to do exercises the
TEACHING right way. Make sure you breathe steadily and switch between upper and lower body work. Rest often.

>Instruct the pt that exercise can make your heart muscle stronger. It may also help you be more active without chest
pain or other symptoms.

>Instruct pt that exercise may help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol. If you have diabetes, it can help you
control your blood sugar.

>Instruct the pt to always talk with your health care provider before starting an exercise program. You need to make
sure the exercise you would like to do is safe for you.

>Provide health teaching on pt and pt’s SO about the effects of smoking in our health.

> Encourage pt to wear loose-fitting clothes to promote comfort and proper blood circulation.

>Remind pt to seek medical advice if unusual in pts body are observed to prevent further complication of the condition.
> Encourage pt to expectorate secretions.

>Teach pt to dispose secretion property and avoid splitting everywhere to prevent spread of the disease.

> Encourage pt to cover the mouth when coughing.

> Encourage pt to return in the scheduled next visit as ordered by the physician.

> Encourage pt to visit nearest health care facility if health problems occur.
