III. Introduction- Manoy

Filipinos outgrown the pandemic while it was still having a fatal impact on
them. Even though the world is unkind, static, and blue, we manage to stay
busy and find a variety of ways to keep ourselves occupied. Sports are one
method that helps with this. It is crucial that via sports we get actively involved
in physical activity, removing the threat that the pandemic raises to our health.
Isn't there anything new with the diversity of sports we engage in and play?

A frisbee is thrown by hand in ultimate, which was formerly known as ultimate

Frisbee. It is a non-contact team sport. In Maplewood, New Jersey, AJ Gator
created Ultimate in 1968. Despite having physical requirements similar to
many traditional sports, ultimate differs from most sports due to its emphasis
on self-officiating, even at the highest levels of competition. Unlike other team
sports like volleyball, basketball, and soccer, ultimate frisbee doesn't call for
any player-to-player contact. Speed, power, and agility are necessary for this
type of sport in order to score goals and win matches. Since just one disc is
required for the entire game of ultimate frisbee, the sport does not necessarily
require a lot of equipment. The objective of this sport is to simply battle with
the opposing team inside the field and score a goal by defending and catching
the disc until it reaches the opposing end zone through a sequence of plays
like a pass.

Unfortunately, despite the huge potential of the sport, it is hardly noticed by

the local sports community which mostly focuses on basketball and volleyball.
This advocacy's main goal is to expand ultimate frisbee in the neighborhood.
Due to the perception that it may be beneficial for one's health, psyche, and
fostering camaraderie among peers. The respondents were chosen at
random from Lapaz, Iloilo, teens who have been observed to actively
participate in sports but not frisbee. This program will be carried out in order
to introduce this type of sport to them.

QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED:

What is your advocacy and promotion all about? (Miguel)

"Disc of youth" (not final, title may opt for change) our Group would like to promote the
ultimate frisbee towards the youth on the barangays of Iloilo. Sports such as Basketball,
volleyball, baseball, and many more are well known around the globe, however there are
those in which are good sports to play with yet do not appeal towards the majority.
Frisbee is one of those, thus we would like to promote it as something more than just
simply throwing discs towards others. Frisbee is one of those unique sports wherein
there are no referees at all in the field! Because of this honesty is pretty much
encouraged and plays a major role in the game. Not only that it's also one of the most
physically driven sports, making it a good way for the teens to be more physically fit after
2 years of lockdowns.
Why did you choose this advocacy and promotion? (Queenie)

We all know that a lot of kids, teenagers, and adults are fond of going to the plaza
in the city to roam around, catch up and talk with their friends, and play sports.
Ultimate Frisbee is not that popular in the Philippines since it has not been
granted full recognition to be played in sports meets that are played by different
varsity players in school, unlike the common sports of basketball, volleyball, and
badminton. We decided to implement ultimate frisbee not only to kill the boredom
of the people in the plaza but also to give knowledge to others that this sport is
fun to play and, of course, to introduce the sport: how to play it, the benefits that
they will gain while playing, and also to socialize with different people through this
sport. Also, ultimate frisbee is a non-contact sport, which is more safe and
suitable to play because the risks and transmissions of the COVID-19 pandemic
are still present. Furthermore, it is a simple sport in which people's willingness
and eagerness to play are essential, no bad foul calls will be made, and you can
always play with class. Lastly, this will improve our sense of sportsmanship and
camaraderie, as well as have positive impacts on our overall health.

How will you conduct this advocacy and promotion? (Manoy)

This advocacy and promotion will be done on La Paz Plaza, which is our target
place for implementation. In order to conduct this advocacy, we will introduce
ourselves first and discuss some matters with the participants, including why we
chose them to play. Second, each of the group members will instruct and guide
the voluntary participants on what they should do when they are in-game. Third,
group members will demonstrate the warm-up before the game, as it is important
to avoid possible injuries that they might acquire while playing the game. Fourth,
they will teach the basic catching and throwing of the disc as well as the different
drills of the sport. Lastly, when the players are ready, they will begin competing
with each other and proceed to the game. The group members will just make sure
that no one gets injured or a possible fight occurs.

What are the goals of this advocacy and promotion? (Ferrariz)

Who will be your captured audience and how can they benefit? (Kisidon)

The participants include voluntary teenagers, kids, or adults that are present in the plaza.
For those who will join the program they can benefit in terms of:

● They will be more active in sports rather than using vices

● They can be more physically healthy and mentally active
● They will develop many fundamental motor skills such as running, leaping and the
vertical jump
● They will develop collaborative skills that teaches them to work as a team
● They will get interval training that burns more calories, increases resting metabolic
rate, and increases tolerance
● They will enhance their agility
● They will improve their sprinting and endurance running
