Subject: Motivation letter

This letter is an introduction of myself, Lemi Gonfa, and my desire to apply for vacancy. In
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) I am a graduate of Jimma University,
holding a BSc. degree in Agricultural Economics and MSc. Degree from Haramaya University
again in Agricultural Economics. Currently, I am working in Wolaita Sodo Univesity as assistant
Professor on teaching, research and community services.

I have many trainings and field work exposures in related to business development and advisory
services. As mentioned in my CV, I was working with Entrepreneurship Development Program
(EDP) of UNDP in Ethiopia as a BDS mentor for micro and small businesses entrepreneurs,
counselling and reporting to the centre. Additionally, I had worked with Agriterra, a Dutch non-
profit organization working with mainly farmers through cooperatives. As an interim that counsel
students from Netherland in the field; advising and mentoring cooperatives. Further, I have an
experience of giving training on youths which enable them remobilizing the existing local
resources to alleviate unemployment. I have also acquired good knowledge and skills of
Research Experience during my under and post graduate study as well as short and long term
training in Ethiopia and abroad for example I have acquired good knowledge and skills.

As I have listed in my curriculum vite I have knowledge and skill of proposing development plan
and follows-up with partners; Implements farm household, market and consumer surveys and
collects and manages secondary data; Data entry, cleaning, and management of survey data;
Locates, assembles and analyzes secondary data relevant for socioeconomics and policy research;
Conducts econometric analysis of survey and other data using STATA or other standard statistical
software. Therefore, I hope your institute will give me this chance and be part of ICRC and able
to work and realize my dream.
