DAILY LESSON PLAN

Grade Level: 10 Quarter: 03 Week: Date: February 28,2023

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate an understanding of the information stored in DNA as being used to make protein.
B. Performance Standard
C. Learning competencies The learners should explain how protein is made using information from DNA.
Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Describe what The Central Dogma is.
 Identify the steps in DNA replication.
 Label the DNA replication chart.
II. CONTENT
A. Subject Matter HEREDITY: INHERITANCE and VARIATION (DNA Replication)

EXPLAIN
e. Discussing new concepts What is Central Dogma?
 The central dogma states that the pattern of information that occurs most frequently in our cells is.
 From existing DNA to make new DNA (DNA replication) From DNA to make new RNA
(transcription) From RNA to make new proteins (translation).

What is DNA replication?

- DNA replication is the process by which a double-stranded DNA molecule is copied to produce two
identical DNA molecules. Replication is an essential process because, whenever a cell divides, the two new
daughter cells must contain the same genetic information, or DNA, as the parent cell.
What are the steps of DNA replication?
 Step 1. An enzyme called helicase breaks the bond between nitrogenous bases. (Two strands
of DNA split).

 Step 2. A bases attached to each strand then pair up with the free nucleotides found in

cytoplasm.

 Step 3. The complementary nucleotides are added to each strand by DNA polymerase to
form new strands.
(The teacher will play a short video about how DNA replicates)

ELABORATE (Students apply the information learned in the explain) 15 minutes

a. Making generalization about the lesson “Fill in the chart”
 The students will fill in the diagram of the DNA replication process based on what they have
learned from the discussion.
 The class will be divided into three groups for this activity.
1.
