All teachers have methods on how to teach a lesson to their students, but not all

share the same strategy in teaching a certain topic especially in the field of science. My
chosen topic is about microscopy, a second quarter grade 7 science. The competency
on the lesson plan that I choose is to “Identify the parts of the microscope and their
functions, (SLT7-IIa-1)”. This competency is very essential to the student because in the
long run this will serve as the foundation to their knowledge on science.

In the understanding to be develop teacher A and B targeted different area of

learning. Teacher A specified in his/her lesson that the students need to develop an
understanding about the function of each part of the microscope, while teacher B only
enumerated some manipulative parts of the microscope in which beats the competency
that needs to be accomplish. In terms of the objectives teacher A is more detailed than
teacher B, because he/she wants the students to demonstrate skills on how to use
compound microscope for viewing details. But, both of them aims to let the students
identify the different parts of the microscope and display appreciation on the importance
of microscope in the field scientific investigations. The procedure in teaching will suffice
my statement that teacher have different methods in teaching, for teacher B starts
his/her class discussion by throwing stimulus questions that allows the students to top in
with their prior knowledge about the lesson, while teacher A organized a formative
worksheet. The first teacher is more drastic in giving an activity in a way that he/she
uses a virtual lab for the students to manipulate a compound microscope and only give
them 10 minutes in which in my personal note is not enough to in order for the students
to develop skills on using compound microscope but will help the students who are
visual and kinesthetic learner. They both uses debriefing to connect, and analyze the
student’s response regarding with the activity they had given, and give a brief
discussion to give some important information about the lesson. However, teacher A is
more effective in his/her application activity because he/she let the students to pick a
part of the microscope that symbolizes themselves, this will allow the student to have a
connection with their lesson of the day making them not to fully forget the acquired
knowledge in the long run. I think they are lack of having a strategy on how to assess
the student because they only dwell on giving written and oral form of assessment.

I observed upon assessing the work of other teachers that there are many
possible ways on how to deliver a lesson in an effective way. If I will be the one to teach
microscopy I will make sure to stick with the target competency when it comes to
plotting my lesson plan, ways on how to implement my lesson effectively, giving
evaluation not just to the students but also for me as the teacher, and by accepting
feedback from my students that will allow me to be aware on what are the things that I
should change or improve to make my methods in teaching more effective and catchy.
Lastly, I will not dwell with the traditional activities like a graded written or oral just what
teacher A and B did, I am not saying that is not effective but instead of giving those type
of activity I will task the student the students to form a group discussion allowing the
interpersonal learner to help the intrapersonal learner to develop their skills in social
interaction. For as a teacher I must consider the different learning styles and multiple
intelligences of my students. To achieve this I must have keen observation on the
performance of my students in order for me to appropriately cater them in the next
activity.
